VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We need your help in order to staff the Lawrence
County Recreational Park Hare Scramble and to
put the final touches on Redbird State Recreational
Area. All dates need an RSVP so we can organize
and plan workloads.

Dates and Location
April 27th Sunday - Redbird SRA, Dugger, IN
Finish the GPS work on trails. Vehicles with
or w/o units needed. Quads, dirt bikes and 4x4.
Start time: 10:00 am
May 10th Saturday - Redbird SRA, Dugger,
IN
Put in two culverts on trails and fabric fence
to control erosion on the NW side of meadow.
Need a piece of equipment that has a backhoe
that can get into the woods in tight areas.
10 quads to help carry and install trail signage.
Tools: T-post drivers, shovels, cordless
drills w/bits.
Start time: 10:00 am
May 11th Sunday - Lawrence Co. Rec. Park,
Bedford, IN
Arrow both bike and ATV course. Fine-tune any
other issues.
Tools: staple gun w/staples, hammers
for driving stakes.
Start time: 10:00 am
May 17th Saturday - Redbird SRA, Dugger,
IN
Fence post work along South and East county
roads. 100 posts to put in, 6” to 8” in diameter.
Quad riders needed to install boundary markers
and put up snow fence to close off railroad
track trails. If you have a trailer to pull
behind your quad that would help in moving materials
and tools.
Tools: Power posthole digger and shovels.
Start time: 10:00 am
May 18th Sunday - Lawrence Co. Rec. Park,
Bedford, IN
Need help working the gate, morning sign-up,
scoring; course Marshals, and rider recovery.
We need you there early due to running the quad
class.
Start time: 7:00 am or as soon as you
can make it.
May 24th – 25th Saturday – Sunday - Redbird
SRA, Dugger, IN
Any left over construction, trail, or signage
issues.
Start time: 10:00 am both days
May 31st – June 1st - Redbird SRA, Dugger,
IN
Final touches before Grand Opening. A crew leader
from DIRT or IFWDA will be present all week
at property site. E-mail for details of any
unfinished business.
Construction starts on the parking area Monday,
April 21st.
Please stay out of the meadow! The Conservation
Officers will be issuing tickets if you’re on
that site.
Note: Don’t
bring your favorite chainsaw. April through
September it is illegal to cut a tree down on
state and federal property due to Indiana Brown
Bat habitat.
Supplies needed, if anyone knows where to get
steel railroad rails at a great price (free
works too) please let Nila Armstrong DNR know.

Your past and present commitment to this project
has been overwhelming, it has made a very big
impression to the powers that be. It has opened
up other avenues for future sites and has given
the creditability to show others we can do it!
