ATV Historical Color Tour 2003September 24th thru the 27th the lodging association of Buena Vista, home to twelve of the fifty-four 14,000’ peaks of Colorado, will be host to this years ATV Historical Color Tour.

Participants of this 4 x 4 all terrain vehicle rally and mountain festival will visit the area's old mining sites and ghost towns on self-guided tours, go to the top of a 14'er (14,000' mountain... you can drive to about 13,700'), cross the continental divide, and take in the fall colors and great fall weather. There will be rides for all skill levels from the easy forest roads to 'Carnage Canyon' ...if you dare. Night time is get together time with BBQ's at the park, beer garden, entertainment and awards.

Buena Vista, Colorado is in the heart of 14'er country... the greatest concentration of 14,000' peaks on the continent. Views are unbeatable and the fall colors are amazing. Walk through old mine buildings, separator mills, hammer mills and drive by the old towers of the ore-carrying tramways. You'll learn about: Cockeyed Liz and her girls; Otto Mears and his Toll Roads (we will ride one); the great railroad race; the tough mining men and women who made and lost their fortunes (and sometimes their lives).

DBuena Vista, Colorado ATV Historical Color Tour 2003rools gold will be placed along the trail for prospectors to find. Bring one of these pricey nuggets back to the evenings BBQ (with slightly loco entertainment) and receive your instant fame and fortune. (Prizes from local merchants)

Out riders will be posted along the trail for directions and assistance.

Charities include the: The Buena Vista Heritage Museum and Buena Vista Search & Rescue. Although there are no registration fees, they ask that you purchase the guidebook for $18.
