Q & A Part 2
Hello again loyal readers, I am pleased to report
that despite the freezing rain and sleet that tumbles
outside my office window, my Inbox has been alive
and well with worthy questions by those of you who
haven’t yet given up on my wisdom. Let us get right
down to the nitty gritty:
<ispanier@tradermonthly.com> Inquires:
Hi: I found your site on the web and was hoping
that you may be able to put me in touch with some
of your better photographers as I am seeking images
of ATV riders jumping sand dunes. Please let me
know if you can help Thanks Ian
Dear Ian:
I advise that you consult the ATV Source Web Ring:
http://t.webring.com/hub?ring=atv as I’m certain
you should have no trouble locating ATV photographers
more than willing to connect with you. For example,
I was able to locate the photo rich ATV RIDER PICTURE
WEBSITE (http://www.atv.dhs.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=main)
On page 1 of the Web Ring. Good luck.
<Vandals909@aol.com> Writes:
I was wondering if you guys could provide me with
some information? I need a replacement frame for
my 1999 400ex, will a 2005 400ex frame work? Is
it the same as the 99 frame, just different part
#'s. Do you know of any changes in the frame between
the years? The reason I ask is because the 99 frame
is over $200 more than the 2005 frame. Thanks for
the help.
According to my painstaking research, the 400EX
frame which is based closely on the dimensions of
the legendary Honda 250R, should remain compatible
with any model year. There were minor changes throughout
the model years, but none major enough to affect
the frame mounting. It is possible that Honda simply
updated its part numbers and as such adjusted the
price as well, but according to many of the Honda
dealerships I contacted, you should have no trouble
with whatever year 400EX frame you decide to purchase.
<GalanisC@oceusa.com> Asks:
Can you please tell me if there is a specific place
to find information regarding quality, dependability,
etc. for different ATV's? What I am searching for
is basically the equivalent of a Consumer's Guide
for cars and trucks, but for ATV's.
Thank you for your help,
Cary Galanis
Cary:
Indeed a Consumer Guide does exist that is devoted
exclusively to the world of ATV’s. It is entitled
the Canadian ATV Guide, and I believe the most recent
edition on the market was published in 2002. Unless
it is a very recent addition to the ATV model line,
this guide should be plenty sufficient. It retails
for $11.95 and can be ordered through the following
link:
http://www.off-road.com/atv/reviews/atvguide02/
In addition Consumer Reports devotes a section
to ATV’s (specifically regarding recall information)
and can be accessed at the following: head over
to
www.consumerreports.org and type ATV in the
search box.
That's about all the time I have for this month,
but please feel free to keep the questions and comments
coming. Next month I hope to get into some off-season
race quad setups for those of us who are forced
to endure the off-season. Until then:
