Tears Up the Tracks
Cliff Beasley has been riding ATVs since
1985. It makes sense. He lives on a dairy farm
in Chapel Hill, Tennessee where a utility ATV
should experience a real work out. Now 27 years
old, Beasley has been riding ATVs since he was 7
years old. His first ATV was a Honda TRX250.
He got involved in racing in 2000. "A friend
got me into racing motocross. It didn't suit me
well so I found my way into cross country
racing," he said. For his first race he bought a
stock 1987 Honda 250R. The only additions to the
machine were nerf bars and a kill switch. He
chose to ride the 250R because it was the most
popular ATV in his area.
Today Beasley races in the GNCC racing
circuit in the utility modified category on a
CAN-AM 800 Outlander "Because it is the fastest
and best fwd ATV on the market," he said.
Friends at Chapman Performance did some motor
mods and Beasley put on some beadlocks, Maxxis
tires, HMF exhaust, and a power commander fuel
injection tuner. After nine rounds of the 2006
GNCC Series ATV a.m. he is ranked second with
144 points.
He is sponsored by Can-Am (BRP). "I sent a
resume into BRP and they picked me," he said.
Other sponsors include Chapman Performance,
Beasley's Motorsports, Maxxis Tires, Looney
Tunes Exhaust, Rox, AC Racing, OMF, Flexx Bars,
Spider Grips, Dynatect, and IMS.
He said that the best part of racing is the
competition. The worst part is being away from
his family.
His favorite track is Loretta Lynn in
Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. "It is close to my
home and the track is like what we ride on at
home," he said.
His favorite obstacle is the hole shot.
"Because I have the quad to win it and everyone
is watching," he said.
As far as the future is concerned, Beasley
said, " I see the utility quad racing growing
more popular and I see myself with Can-Am
helping me to get their product up front in
every race."
