A concerned visitor to our site is requesting
our enthusiast help with how the Park Service in
their local community has neglected to inform
the community of their actions. Please see
our concerned members request below. Lee Lane
Flippin, AR.
We are planning an ATV show & "rally for our
rights" at the fairgrounds in Mtn. home followed
by a trail ride through the forest. There will
be booth spaces for dealers & concessions, & a
speaker to inform the people of what they are
losing & have already lost.
There will be a meeting in Mtn. home on the
9th of November at the Baxter Inn at 7pm please
attend if you can, that is when the show date,
time, & details will be decided. The North
Arkansas ATV Association will have reps from the
forestry service & the OHVCC council will be
there. you can call me at 870-453-1952 or
870-688-0232 for more information or suggestions
or you can e-mail me, Lee Lane to:

MY COMPLAINT
If the park service really wants to know what
the people want done, why don't they post the
proposal and the input period in the local paper
& air it on local radio or TV? the people here
in Arkansas have gotten a raw deal with the park
service slipping proposals by without any real
input because they are not letting the people
know that it is there decision to make.
Below is a copy of my letter to the Baxter
Bulletin
I have been a resident of Arkansas all my
life. I am an outdoors man, and if not for my
ATV I would not be able to enjoy the outdoors
and the life I love. New inventions come along
every now and then that greatly improve the
quality of ones life. With the invention of the
ATV, I believe that we have a great opportunity
to improve the quality of life for many of our
citizens.
There are thousands of acres of park and
forest lands with thousands of miles of
established roads and trails that are currently
not being used or are limited to foot or horse
travel. These lands were purchased with the
people's tax dollars for the enjoyment of all
people. Most of our citizens can't utilize these
places because of the travel restrictions.
It is a fact that ATVs aren't going away.
Many of our senior citizens and disabled
veterans ride ATVs for enjoyment, and for some
this is all they have. It is a great way to
spend time with family and friends and be in the
outdoors together.
Most of these places here in Arkansas have
old cemeteries where the families can't visit or
old home places where they or their families
were raised. How can the government deny these
people their rights to equal access? I believe
it is time to change. We have the opportunity to
help the people who have done the most for their
country and improve the quality of everyone
outdoor experience.
When these places were taken, there was
plenty of private land open to hunting. Now that
is not the case. With the population increasing
and the private lands being leased or bought and
posted, most people have nowhere to hunt or just
enjoy the outdoors. We need these places open
now more than ever. The roads and trails already
are in place, and the people I have spoken with
are willing to pay a user fee for maintenance.
What good are these places if the people can't
enjoy them? As for preservation for the future
generations, that may be us.
THANK YOU!
Lee Lane
