THE NOHVCC HOME OFFICE
MOVES TO MONTANA IN SPRING '07
Board of Directors also votes to increase the
NOHVCC’s educational outreach with regional
Adventure Trail trailers
A recent meeting of the National Off-Highway
Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) Board of
Directors resulted in a decision to move the
organization’s home office from its longstanding
location in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Great Falls,
Montana. This move consolidates the Executive
Director’s office with the administrative/home
office functions. Great Falls is where Russ
Ehnes, who has served as NOHVCC's Executive
Director since 1998, is based. The home office
had been in Sheboygan since 1993.
The Board based their unanimous decision on a
variety of practical and economical reasons that
pointed to Great Falls as the best new location
for the NOHVCC headquarters. The new building
will house the entire inventory of educational
materials, as well as most of the vehicles and
office equipment from the Sheboygan site.
Negotiations to lease a 5000 square-foot
building in the Great Falls area are nearly
complete.
NOHVCC Operations Manager Ann Vance, who was
based at the Sheboygan office, will continue
from a remote office and will retain most of her
same responsibilities. The Great Falls
headquarters will be the distribution center for
materials such as Adventure Trail products,
brochures, CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc., while Ann will
continue to concentrate on the national
day-to-day operations regarding workshops,
events, tradeshows, conferences, budgets, and
accounting.
In addition to the decision regarding the
office location, the Board also felt it was time
to retire and sell the NOHVCC semi-hauler when
the move is complete. "This is something we've
been mulling over for quite some time," says
Ehnes. "The semi-hauler has served us well for
many years and I would like to thank American
Honda Motor Company once again for donating
it
to our organization back in 1998 and to Joe
Vance for all the miles he has put on it
traveling to OHV events from coast-to-coast. Joe
kept the rig spotless and with the Adventure
Trail display in place, it has been a great
showcase for the NOHVCC. However, the
semi-hauler has become impractical to use on a
national scale.”
Ehnes continues, “Our new plans for the
Adventure Trail program are quite exciting and
will actually expand our educational outreach
significantly. Instead of one semi-hauler, we
will replace the semi with a pick-up and
gooseneck trailer and purchase several smaller
regional Adventure Trail trailers over the next
couple years that can be pulled behind pickups
from various locations throughout the country.
This will substantially increase our ability for
NOHVCC staff and volunteers to attend more OHV
events every year with our educational
centerpiece that stresses proper riding
behaviors and trail ethics.” The regional
trailers will be available for use by NOHVCC
representatives and associates and other
interested parties.
The acquisition of new NOHVCC vehicles has
already begun with the purchase a 2006 Dodge RAM
3500 pickup in November and one regional
trailer, which was purchased earlier in the
summer of 2006. NOHVCC will also acquire a
gooseneck trailer in 2007 and equip it with an
Adventure Trail display. Driver Joe Vance will
continue to drive the pickup truck and gooseneck
trailer combination and will be representing the
NOHVCC at 2007 events in the same great manner
that he has for the past eight years.
Dan Kleen, the President of NOHVCC, added, "I
would like to thank the NOHVCC Board of
Directors once again for their continued
support. Their progressive leadership, along
with our hard working NOHVCC staff, has kept the
organization moving forward over the last
16-plus years. The decision to move the NOHVCC
home office to Great Falls is just another
example of our great teamwork."
