Rugged Outdoor Experience Offered at Silver Mountain Resort

Williams volunteered that there is a 73-mile paved bike path which is part of the Rails-to-Trails project. “It runs along an old railroad, through forests and by rivers,” he said. He added that there is another nearby bike trail that is not paved that takes bicyclists through old railroad tunnels and over trestles. He also said that there are rivers near the resort which are ideal for cutthroat fishing. “They offer some of the best cutthroat fishing in the nation,” he said.

Guests stay in the condominium complex, which is called Morning Star Lodge. There are a variety of rooms available. The lodge includes public areas with fireplaces, computers with high speed Internet access, a fitness center and roof top and terrace level hot tubs.

Rooms include a studio with balcony and kitchen that sleeps two up to a two-bedroom loft with balcony, fireplace and fully equipped kitchen that sleeps 10. Prices range from $119 a night for the studio to $350 for the Loft. Each guest regardless of which room they are staying in has full access to the Silver Rapids Water Park from the day of arrival through day of departure.

The village includes restaurants and bars or pubs as well as shops. Entertainment includes karaoke and string and blues bands. Williams volunteered that there is an annual Brews Fest in August. “Twenty or so microbreweries from around the area come and promote their beers, and there are three bands that perform at the top of Silver Mountain,” he said.

Shops in the Lodge or in the village include Silver Mountain Sports, where you can buy apparel and accessories, rent skis, snowboards and other equipment; Morning Star Lodge Gift Shop, where you can buy gifts, books, cards, snack foods, shirts, and accessories.

Restaurants at the resort include Noah’s Canteen, The Lunch Bucket, Trestles, Mountain Cafe and Catering, Wildcat Pizza, Mogul’s Mountain Top Pub and Mountain House Grill.

More activities, restaurants and entertainment can be found close by in Cour d’Alene and Wallace, Idaho.

More information, including real time webcams where you can view Lodge activities, can be found at the resort’s website at
