Traci Lenig Cecco Joins Penland Brothers Racing
Penland Brothers Racing proudly announces the newest team
member, Traci Lenig Cecco (Checko) Traci joined riders Mike
Penland and Scott Kilby for a winning day at GNCC Round 5 at
Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. All three riders
finished 1st in their classes with Traci finishing 2nd
overall!
Traci and
her husband Rick Cecco hail from Shamokin, Pa. They both race
but due to the grueling GNCC schedule only rarely do they get
to race each other in local harescrambles. Traci started
riding quads in 1987 and racing in 1997. Since then she has
quite a winning record with 24 National wins, 2 GNCC
Championships and currently in the points lead for a 3rd.
Joining Team Penland was an exciting opportunity while at the
same time Traci was concerned about staying focused on winning
races and doing her best to represent her sponsors. After
watching the race at Loretta’s, focus does not seem to be an
issue! Having known Mike and Morris over the last few years
racing and knowing their reputation and presence and getting
to know Scott more recently, made the decision to join the
team a very easy one.
Traci’s
thoughts about the level of competition in the Women’s Class
-“Very competitive - Everyone wants the championship. I have
won it for the last 2 years, so I know that they are hungry to
take it away from me. I have had some of the best races of my
career so far this year, and I hope they keep coming.” How
does it feel to be the one to beat by both men and women for
those Overall rankings? “Feels great.
I am
meeting new people and friends at every race. Spectators are
yelling and cheering me on - "Let's go Traci" throughout the
whole racecourse. They know who I am and support me - It is a
great feeling.”
When asked
why they chose Traci, Morris Penland responded that he, Mike
and Scott all felt that Traci would be a true asset to Penland
Brothers Racing not only because of her very strong winning
record and talent, but also due to the family based team Traci
and Rick have put together. The professional attitude and
integrity both on and off the track combined with the same
hard charging must win riding style shared by Mike and Scott
made this an easy choice. The mechanic in Morris also noticed
fact that Traci’s quad is always spotless and in perfect shape
prior to each race! They also commented that adding the top
rider in the Women’s class helped round out the team by moving
into other highly competitive classes as Team Penland expands.
Traci is
