The cat is out of the bag. We have now
finished testing front disk brakes and they are on the way.
Here is the news being issued to the ATV press and others.
High Lifter Products is pleased to announce
the introduction of one of the most talked about and customer
demanded new products of this industry—The High Lifter Outlaw
Disc Brake System for Honda Utility ATV’s.
Honda drum brakes work fine as long as they
are properly maintained and do not develop leaks of mud and
water. Once internal components are subjected to mud and water
corrosion, the damage is difficult to reverse without repeated
rebuilding. When allowed to remain in the brake drum, abrasive
sand and muddy water damage all internal components, including
bearings, seals and brake components.
The “before” photo above illustrates the front
brakes on a Honda 450 with 237 total miles, most of which were
in mud and water. This is a typical condition of drum brakes
used in these conditions, not an exceptional appearance. To
say that these do not function would be an understatement.
When rebuilt they will again have a short life. That is why
there is a huge demand for this product.
The High Lifter Outlaw Front Disc Brake kit is
designed to replace the mud susceptible, front drum brakes on
Honda utility ATV’s with a high performance disc brake system.
Once installed, the disc brake kit allows easy cleaning of mud
and debris from hubs without disassembly, and water has no
place to collect and corrode components. Quality brake pads
are included and are easy to replace when needed.
This new system is designed around famous
Wilwood Engineering’s dual piston racing caliper and an 8”
rotor. The kit employs the O.E.M. hydraulic system. It is
designed to fit on ATV’s with 12” diameter wheels and is
basically “a bolt on” that requires removing the factory drum
brake components, replacing with the disc brake system, and
bleeding (removing air) from the lines. No fabrication or
welding is required and complete instructions are furnished.
Parts included are high performance dual
piston calipers, pads, rotors, mounting brackets, hub spacers,
new studs and all hardware.
High Lifter has done extensive testing on
these kits on different ATV’s in conditions ranging from
concrete and hard pack trails to deep mud and water. Customers
who are not professional mechanics have installed the system
on their ATV and tested them and the instructions. They have
been impressed with the ease of installation and function.
Wilwood Engineering, manufacturer of the
caliper, is a well-established and respected manufacturer of
high performance racing brake systems. Designed, engineered
and manufactured in the U.S., their products are used by many
nationally famous racing teams. Since they classify components
of these kits as racing parts these kits are sold without
warranty of fitness or suitability for any particular
application.
With the addition of this kit, Honda utility
ATV’s join the rest of the premium utility ATV’s in employing
disc brakes. If you or your customers are having difficulty
