Tarantula Performance Racing

TPR Debuts ‘Race Safer’ Youth Product Line

Feb. 13, 2009 - At this year’s Dealer Expo, Tarantula Performance Racing teamed up with DRR to debut TPR’s new “Race Safer” youth product line, which is designed to provide maximum safety for young racers while retaining TPR’s trademark ability to customize each part for each racer.

The championship winning DRR DRX 50 featured by TPR at the 2009 Indy Dealer Expo is outfitted with a front bumper, rear grab bar and combined heel-guards with nerf bars from TPR’s “Race Safer” product line.

Each “Race Safer” youth front bumper features rounded edges designed for maximum safety in the event of a crash with optimal room for grabbing and lifting the machine’s front end. The bumper also features a skid plate designed to protect the bottom of the DRR steering stem.

The “Race Safer” youth front bumper incorporates the customizable center inserts found on the TPR MX-Series front bumper sold for adult-size sport ATVs. Riders’ choice of color and design of their front inserts is virtually limitless, as TPR can incorporate rider numbers, sponsor logos or even detailed images – like photos – into the bumper insert.

TPR collaborated with DRR to design a one-piece “Race Safer” nerf bar and heel guard combination that incorporates three critical safety aspects.

Kick-up style replaceable foot pegs are wider, longer and eliminate the sharp teeth found on most other aftermarket foot pegs while improving grip. In place of nylon webbing, TPR uses an aluminum foot well, which provides young riders with more solid footing and has virtually no impact on the machine’s overall weight. The frame of the heel guard and nerf bar combo features an approximately 30 degree angle from the front to the heel guard to create a “pocket” for the rider’s feet and protect them from a competitor’s wheels.

TPR’s “Race Safer” rear grab bar design, like the front bumper, features rounded ends and incorporates padding similar to the foam used on most handlebars. All three products are manufactured from 6061 T-6, lightweight and durable aluminum tubing.

Throughout 2009, TPR is using the DRR mini quads to debut the “Race Safer” product line. These products are designed with full coverage to keep youth riders safely planted in the saddle. The DRR at this year’s Dealer Expo is ready to race with ATV Four Play a-arms, swing arm, steering stem, new Soft Bars and aftermarket Elka shocks.

The DRR mini quad is featured at the candy red Tarantula Performance booth, number 8573, located in the new Lucas Oil Stadium near the cafe in the new products area.

Located in Hinckley, Ohio, TPR manufactures fully customizable ATV body accessories. Tarantula Performance Racing’s spider-web inspired lines and contours are designed with today’s modern factory quad styles in mind and to give riders another platform for promoting themselves or their sponsors.

DRR ATVs, headquartered in Brunswick, Ohio, have been proven winners on motocross tracks worldwide for 10 years.  DRR quads have won 59 championships and counting, more than all other mini-quad manufacturers combined.  DRR now offers two and four stroke models ranging in size from 50 to 300cc.

ATV Four Play, located in Wadsworth, Ohio, is a fixture in the pro ranks on the east and west coasts. Four Play’s top-level suspension components have been run by championship winning racers, including Can-Am backed John Natalie Jr.

Elka Suspension has helped win countless ATV championships in all racing disciplines. As a result, the Canada-based manufacturer is one of the industry’s top-selling shock builders. Elka is committed to providing every customer with the same quality built shocks with quick delivery and top-notch customer service.
