Home Press Releases A Honda TRX 450R? Will It Just Be A Dream? Maybe or Maybe Not

Curtis Sparks RacingNot yet, but it could be a reality for you very soon! Sparks Racing has definite plans to develop the CRF450R motor for ATV racing. There will likely be a limited supply of motor available for sale. Also, Curtis has plans to build the very first Sparks chassis for the CRF450R motor to aid in the development of the motor for ATV racing. We will post more details as they become available, but if you are interested, please contact us right away. In case you have been under a pile of rocks and haven't heard of the new CRF450R, Honda has decided to take over the top four-stroke MX spot from the YZ426F. Currently, Ryan Hughes is competing in the outdoor nationals on it and has managed to gather up a few holeshots. Heath Voss raced at the final round of the Supercross series in Las Vegas and ripped some of the fattest holeshot's seen at a Supercross. The motor definitely has authority and it's a Honda. Here are a few pics and some specs on the motor and the bike.

Displacement comes in at 449cc (96mm x 62.1mm). It has a SOHC, four valves, 11.5:1 piston. The carb will be a Keihin 40mm FCR (wonder why we recommend the FCR for the 400X?). Honda is claiming 55bhp at 9000 rpm and 36 lb/ft at 7000 rpm. The engine weighs in at 65.4 lbs. Honda chose Titanium intake valves and a system to make cold and hot starting superbly easy. Basically it is a Honda and it will be completely awesome.
