Cannondale To Exhibit 2003 Motorsports
Line At INTERMOT
Show in Munich
(8/2/02) Cannondale, the bicycling industry’s leading
innovator and an emerging player in the high-performance,
off-road Motorsports industry, has announced it will be
exhibiting its line of 2003 motorcycles and ATVs at the
INTERMOT show in Munich from September 18 to September 20. The
company will occupy booth #641 in hall B2 at INTERMOT, which
is Europe’s largest annual Motorsports show.
“We’re very excited to officially introduce our motorsports
products in Europe,” said Saskia Stock, Vice President of
Marketing for Cannondale’s European subsidiary. “INTERMOT will
give European Motorsports dealers their first chance to see
our entire 2003 line, and it will give us an opportunity to
sign dealers and generate orders.”
Cannondale has quickly established a reputation for innovation
with its high-performance ATVs and motorcycles. The company’s
Cannibal ATV was named the industry’s “Best Sport ATV” by ATV
magazine earlier this year, and its Speed 440 won the 2002 ATV
4-Stroke World Championships. The company’s bicycle division
enjoys a similar reputation, and it also introduced a steady
steam of new technologies in 2002 including ultra-light CAAD7
road bikes, Gemini freeride mountain bikes, and a
full-suspension recumbent.
All of Cannondale’s motorcycles and ATVs feature lightweight
aluminum frames and an innovative electric-start, dual
overhead cam, 432cc four-stroke engine. The powerplant’s
secret weapon is its “field-tunable” GP Control electronic
fuel-injection, which delivers superior performance,
eliminates the need to rejet the engine for air temperature or
altitude changes, and allows for chokeless starting.
While handling fuel-injection duties, the engine’s powerful
Sagem MC1000 “brain” also monitors air pressure, air
temperature, coolant temperature, rpm and throttle position to
deliver the correct amount of fuel and proper ignition timing
for maximum power. The Sagem unit also regulates the ignition
by varying the timing to match engine load. All of these
features combine to deliver throttle response and drivability
that are far superior to carbureted engines.
To help simplify maintenance chores the engine has a cassette
transmission inside a one-piece crankcase, a high-flow Max-Air
Box with an easily accessible air filter, and small windows
for an easy visual check of engine and transmission oil
levels.
