Park Guidelines for OHV Facilities Published
The
National Recreation and Park Association has recently
published Park Guidelines for Off-Highway Vehicles. The
209 page, 8.5" x 11" paper bound book was written by George E.
Fogg, FASLA, and is intended to provide guidance to local park
and recreation agencies, state governments, and private
parties that can respond to the need for OHV park facilities.
Park Guidelines for OHV Facilities retails for $50.00
per copy.
A
healthy future for off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation is
directly dependent on sufficient opportunities to experience
and enjoy the activity. Federal lands may provide trail
systems and areas designated for OHV recreation, but there is
a pressing need, especially in urban areas, for state
governments, local governments and private parties to provide
OHV park facilities.
Park
Guidelines for Off-Highway Vehicles:
-
Answers common questions about OHV parks.
-
Provides information on community planning and coalition
building necessary to promote local OHV Parks.
-
Provides information and resources that will encourage and
assist in the development of OHV parks, youth activities,
safety training, and environmental programs.
-
Provides information that will assist in planning,
designing, funding, operating, and maintaining new OHV parks
and upgraded parks that meet the needs of the OHV community
while addressing environmental and general public concerns.
-
Offers ideas, resources, and suggestions that will enhance
ongoing activities and encourage development of additional
programs.
