San Juan County, Utah Vies to Become the
Premier ATV Venue in the Country

San Juan SafariMonticello, UT, Friday, June 20, 2003 -- Local governments, businesses and individuals have come together to showcase the beauties of San Juan County, Utah for the ATV enthusiasts of the nation. The San Juan Safari is a three-day event which will be held on September 25, 26 and 27, 2003 in Monticello and Blanding, UT which organizers hope will bring up to 350 ATV riders to the area and help establish San Juan County as a premier location for outdoor adventures.

Riders will have the opportunity to ride a 25 - 30 mile trail each day of the event with a knowledgeable trail guide. The event will close with a dinner and entertainment on Saturday night. Registration and sponsorship information can be obtained at http://www.sanjuansafari.com/ or by calling (435) 587-ATV5.

San Juan County Utah boasts of high mountains, deep canyons and world class ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) or "quad" trails in a very scenic part of the Four Corners area. A portion of these trails will be used this year to entice participants to explore the other scenic wonders that are found in the area (including Canyonlands and Arches National Parks) and return next year with their friends.

Riding an ATV has become a popular pastime for people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience. Youth and vibrant seniors alike enjoy the ease of motoring along an ATV trail. The use of an ATV extends the possibility of exposure to the backcountry to a variety of people who would otherwise be restricted because of physical limitations. An ATV jamboree provides an abundance of scenic opportunities, leisurely touring and camaraderie.

The San Juan Safari is an annual event coordinated by the City of Monticello, Monticello Chamber of Commerce, San Juan County, City of Blanding, and Blanding Chamber of Commerce with help from many local businesses and individuals.
