FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SDORC Joins Bare Essentials Network
The San Diego Off-Road Coalition joins the CNF Volunteer Association
offering assistance to people affected by the California Wildfires

San Diego, CA – November 3, 2003 – The San Diego Off-Road Coalition joined forces with other OHV organizations to answer a call from Cleveland National Forest Volunteer Association to establish a network to gather and distribute needed goods and supplies to assist wildfire victims.

The focus of the network is “Bare Essentials” and includes donation of hand tools for clean-up (shovels, rakes, garden hoses, work gloves), linens, clothing (including shoes, socks, gloves, warm wear), kitchen utensils (can openers, pots & pans), toiletries, toys, and the off-roaders’ specialty – outdoor gear (tents, ice chests, propane BBQ’s, flashlights, batteries, radios, plastic chairs, etc.) New and used items in good condition are sought. Food and cash are not being solicited in this program, but will of course be accepted and put toward the cause.

Collection points include Motoworld of El Cajon, all three Off-Road Warehouse (ORW) locations, Alba Action Sports in Poway, Double D RV in Lakeside and Fibertech in Santee.

The BPOE Elks Lodge #1812 in El Cajon is providing Elks members to transport the donated supplies to distribution centers in Crest, Harbison Canyon, Ramona, Alpine, Julian, Descanso and other East County communities.

Check http://www.offroadaccess.com/ bulletin board “Good Idea” for further information and updates on additional collection locations and special needs.

San Diego effort is spearheaded by Julie Allen and Harold Soens of the San Diego Off-Road Coalition.
