KAWASAKI TO PROVIDE SUZUKI WITH
MULE™ 3010 4X4 UTILITY VEHICLE
Kawasaki-built utility vehicle will be sold through
both Kawasaki and Suzuki dealer networks
IRVINE, Calif. (May 17, 2004) – Japan-based Kawasaki Heavy
Industries, Ltd. (KHI) announced that its successful alliance
with Suzuki Motor Corp., which has enabled both brands to expand
their product lines in the U.S. market and to share development
costs for select models, will now include a utility vehicle.
Suzuki will be given the opportunity to market its own branded
version of the Kawasaki-built MULE™ 3010 4x4 utility vehicle.
Kawasaki pioneered the off-road utility vehicle market when it
introduced the first MULE utility vehicle in 1988, and today the
line consists of four models, all of which are built at
Kawasaki’s manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Neb.
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., (KMC) markets and sells at
wholesale Kawasaki motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft,
utility vehicles, power products and general purpose engines.
These product lines are sold through a network of more than
1,500 independent retailers. KMC and its affiliates employ
nearly 2,400 people in the United States, with approximately 400
of them located at the Irvine, California headquarters.
