POLARIS CITES YUASA WITH 2005 AWARD OF
EXCELLENCE
Yuasa Recognized for Outstanding Performance in
Cost Reduction, Quality and Delivery
LAURELDALE, Pa. (March 2, 2006) – Yuasa
Battery Inc., the leading manufacturer of
batteries for powersports vehicles, received the
2005 Award of Excellence from Polaris
Industries, a leading manufacturer of
powersports vehicles. The award, presented at
Polaris’ Supplier Seminar in Minneapolis on Feb.
7, 2006, is for vendors that demonstrate
consistent performance in cost reductions,
quality and on-time delivery.
From a pool of more than 150 of Polaris’
suppliers, Yuasa is one of only four that
received the 2005 Award of Excellence.
Yuasa earned the Three Star Cost Improvement
Award through the application of product design
and business procedures that contributed to
significant cost savings for Polaris. Yuasa
earned the Grade A Quality Achievement award
through supplying batteries and components that
had fewer than 100 parts per million rejected, a
citation it also earned last year. Finally,
Yuasa earned the Delivery Performance award by
supplying more than 99 percent of its orders on
time to all Polaris locations.
“Yuasa is a very proactive company,” said
Rich Kobes, director of purchasing for Polaris
Industries. “For example, Yuasa’s citation for
the Three Star Cost Improvement Award goes far
beyond the price on the P.O. By achieving
industry-leading quality and delivery, the
overall costs of doing business with Yuasa are
minimal. Yuasa is one of those suppliers that is
pleasantly predictable in its execution.”
