ATV Offroad Fury 4
ATV Offroad Fury Rides Again with Number 4, with More Rides

Sony is returning to the world of off-road racing on the PlayStation 2 with the release of the fourth title in its ATV series, ATV Offroad Fury 4.  While ATV racing is still a big part of the core game play, the game has expanded to include other four wheeled and two wheeled machines.  For the first time in the series, players are now able to ride on MX bikes, hop into rail buggies and trophy trucks, and compete against each other.

A new addition to the series is the introduction of a story mode.  Here, you'll start out as a male or female rookie rider and work your way up through the racing ranks towards becoming a professional racer.  We are told that as the story line unfolds, Sony has opted to go with video to tie all of the story events together.  A very cool idea and a nice touch compared to seeing computer generated scenes.  Maybe we'll see some Huevos or H-Bomb style video here.  As you progress through the story mode, you'll gain access to new types of vehicles, and upgrades available for each vehicle type.  You can swap out and customize a vehicle's suspension, engine, gearbox, exhaust, intake and brakes, as well as replace the tires and change the gear ratios.  In other words, the vehicles in ATV Offroad Fury 4 are highly customizable.

ATV Offroad Fury 4 features an all-new track editor.  This part of the game will be a warm welcome and a fan favorite among the hard-core ATV Offroad Fury players.  Here, you'll be given more control over the tightness of corners and height of jumps, allowing you to create Supercross style tracks.  New point-to-point races utilize free-roaming environments to offer expansive and open-ended races.  These tracks feature multiple routes, so you can split off from the pack and take a different route to pass the same area.

The online play for ATV Offroad Fury 4 will include an all-new tournament mode.  You'll be able to track player information, set up a garage for your vehicles and more.  We hope ATV Offroad Fury 4 includes the abilities to exchange game data online, as in custom ride setups, user-created tracks, etc.  If these are included, ATV Offroad Fury 4 will have an extensive online platform.  In addition, ATV Offroad Fury 4 will have the ability to connect with ATV Offroad Fury Pro for the PSP, thus allowing you to swap game setups and tracks.

Quick Overview of the features in ATV Offroad Fury 4

  • New Vehicles - Adding to the selection of classic ATVs, more than 30 new vehicles are available to race including MX bikes, buggies, and trophy trucks.
  • New Story Mode - Select a male or female rider to compete in races, challenges, and events to gain prestige and sponsorships.
  • New Track Editor - Make the corners tighter and the jumps higher with the ability to create and race on custom-built Supercross and circuit tracks.
  • New Point-to-Point Race Mode - Race Baja-style with new free-roaming environments where players can truly race offroad and complete courses through multiple routes.
  • New Cross-Connection Compatibility with ATV Offroad Fury® Pro for PSP™ System - Players are now able to share customized circuits, exchange and upgrade vehicles, and access chat rooms and newsgroups with the upcoming ATV Offroad Fury Pro for PSP.

ATV Offroad Fury 4 is currently scheduled for release either late September or early October of 2006 on the PlayStation 2.
