ITP Quad Cross, Round 6

ITP Quad CrossThe ITP Quad Cross was held at Glen Helen Raceway in Devore CA. for round six of the series, which is now back at the series home venue after taking a brief hiatus. The last round was held at Race Town 395 and the next two rounds will be held at Glen Helen. There was a large turn out, even though by the time practice was wrapped up the temperatures where in the 100’s. It was definitely hot and that wasn’t going to make it easy on the day's event. It still was a great day of racing.

Pro Moto 1
As soon as the gate dropped, Dustin Nelson (currently third in the points race) pulled the holeshot and was in the lead for the first quarter of lap one. Jeremy Schell, last years ITP Quad Cross Champion, was right on #98 Dustin Nelsons tail. He made his pass on the first table top. From there, Schell began to pull away for the rest of the pack on his Golden West Cycle backed YFZ450. As Nelson fell back into second place, the battle began. Duncan Racings Doug Eichner #11 and #52 Dana Creech of DanaCreechRacing.com also the current point's leader began to dice it up with Nelson. No more than a half lap; Doug made his pass on Nelson. Now Nelson was in third and starting to feel the pressure from Creech. At this point, Schell was putting a great race together with a sizeable lead. With the pressure of Creech right behind him, Nelson must have put it in high gear and began to apply that pressure to the #11 Eichner. A short time later, both Nelson and Creech pass Eichner for second and third place. The moto would finish with Schell taking the win and Dustin Nelson, Dana Creech, and Doug Eichner would round out the top four finishes.

Pro Moto 2
Once again Dustin Nelson pulled the holeshot as Doug Eichner and Jeremy Schell both rocketing right behind him, motoring for their position for the first lap. Then within a couple of laps, Jeremy Schell made his move and pasted Doug Eichner for second. From there, Doug began to fade back to the middle of the pack as Dana Creech and Cyle Chislock of Team Temecula Motorsports take third and fourth position. Schell then tried to reel in Nelson. Dustin Nelson rode the rest of the race flawlessly and took home the overall win with a 2-1 finish just ahead of Jeremy Schell for a second overall. Dana Creech and Cyle Chislock battle for the last podium position, with Creech coming out on top. Creech would take home a third overall.

It was a great day of racing, even if it was a little on the hot side. All the riders loved the track and will be back at the same venue in two weeks for round 7. With Dustin Nelson picking up a couple valuable championship points, the next couple of rounds shall prove to be some thrilling racing. Schell is a great racer and is sure to put up a good fight for the championship. He is still currently second in points and only two away from the series leader Dana Creech. Creech has been the point’s leader since early on in the series and has some great potential to just walk away with the title the next few races. Also there was an interesting rider that showed up in the mix. John Guetter of Akraix Entertainment, John is the only guy to do a back flip on an ATV. John was there with his brother's to enjoy a great day of racing and take a break from the freestyle game. It wasn’t a total break he was still pulling freestyle tricks over a few jumps just to make things interesting.
