ITP Quad Cross, Round 7
The
ITP Quad Cross was held at Glen Helen Raceway for Round #7 of
the series. With the series more than half way over, things are
really starting to heat up. The riders are really paying close
attention to the points chase. With the podium positions all
just within a couple points of each other, this series is still
any ones game. The track conditions where great and the weather
was a bit overcast for practice, which made for cooler
temperatures than at round 6. After about noon the clouds had
cleared and the sun was out to make the day just perfect.
Pro Moto 1
Jeremy Schell last years champion looking for back to back
championships would come off the line with the hole shot and
flying into the Talladega style turn with the lead. By the first
tabletop, Schell had a commanding lead over Duncan Racing’s own
Doug Eichner. While the current points leader Dana Creech of
DanaCreechRacing.com and Dustin Nelson where battling for third.
As the race wore down Doug had close the gap and was starting to
try and make a pass on Golden West Cycle’s Jeremy Schell. Doug
continued to try and make a pass, but just couldn’t make
anything stick. Finally the last lap Eichner dove to the inside
for his final attempt and he got mixed up with Schell’s wheels
and high sided in the middle of the turn. Shortly there after
Eichner was past by the rest of the pack, Eichner flipped his
machine back on all fours and finished in last. Schell finished
first followed by Dana Creech in second. Somewhere in the
confusion #61 Mike Machado and the #44 CT Racing backed Josh
Frederick made a pass on Dustin Nelson. Afterward Schell stated
that he wished Eichner would have stayed on all fours and
finished right behind him. Simply for the fact he would have put
Dana back a position earning him less points and bring Jeremy
that much closer to Dana for the championship. Reportedly Dana
Creech was having some sort of engine trouble and was going to
ride his practice bike in the second moto.

Pro Moto 2
Again Schell hole shots and leads the pack into the first
turn. Schell look to have a sizeable lead though out the first
half of race, with Nelson Right behind him just waiting for him
to make an error. Dustin Nelson would finally past Schell for
the lead and go on to take the checker flag. Creech at this
point was back in the middle of the pack and advancing. Creech
force to run a practice machine was just trying to salvage any
points and was doing a great job. Creech would eventually work
his way up to fifth and round out the top five for the moto.
Eichner would finish fourth a position he held the entire race.
Doug would have had a great day if it wasn’t for that
unfortunate incident in moto one. Logan Holliday finished third,
he as well held on to his position the entire race. Running 14th
in the point's race, this earned him some well needed points. He
has only attended half the races and place well in them all.
There is no telling the potential this rider has. Keep your eyes
on this guy, he may be the next up and coming rider.

Wrap up
Well Creech held on to the points lead for the series, but
the gap was closed and Schell is within striking distance.
Schell is just two points behind in the series and there are just
three more rounds to go. The next race is going to be held in
Arizona and is going to be an evening/night race. It should make
for some really good racing. Dustin Nelson rode great in moto
two and closed the gap in the point's race. He is currently
in third just ahead of Mike Machado for forth. The remaining
three events are bound to be some great racing with everyone so
close in points. With Creech looking for his first ITP Quad
Cross Championship, Schell is trying to repeat, and some new guys
trying to make a name in the ATV racing scene.
