New State-of-the-Art Motocross Facility
Hosting Six Major Events
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. There's a new city on the motocross
circuit, and it's one riders won't want to miss. Ballance Moto X
of Bowling Green, Ky. has secured one national event, a Loretta
Lynn's Area Qualifier, a Mega Series race, two Southern
All-Stars races, and one Kentucky State Series race in addition
to the 13 races that are part of their regular season for 2006.
Kicking off the season, March 25-26 marks the first events
for 2006 at Ballance with the Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier /
Mega Series Race and Southern All Stars Race scheduled. Loretta
Lynn's, the largest amateur event in the nation, is expected to
draw thousands of spectators in addition to the approximately
1,000 riders age four and up. Winners from the Area Qualifier
will advance to the regional championships.
Labor Day Weekend, September 2-3, offers ATV enthusiasts the
largest event for the season. Known as the finale for "the best
of the best" in ATV motocross racing, the GNC ATV National
Series will bring 700-900 riders from all over the United
States.
"I am excited about our upcoming season. It is unprecedented
for a track to receive such national caliber events, especially
in its second year," said track owner, John Ballance. "This is a
testament to the quality of our facility and how attractive
Bowling Green is to hosting such events. 2006 at Ballance Moto
X is where the action is going to be."
Like many tracks, the Ballance facility grew from what was
once the family's crop field. But what sets it apart is the fact
that six-time GNCC Champion, Bill Ballance, designed and
supervised the building of the track; a project that began
construction in July 2003. The track is the first
state-of-the-art motocross facility in this region of the United
States and is conveniently located just six miles north of
Bowling Green, Ky. on U.S.
Highway 31W and just four miles from Interstate 65.
2005 marked the first year Ballance Moto X of Bowling Green,
Ky. was open for business, and that inaugural year included an
action-packed schedule of 14 competitive races. Over 100 racers and 300 spectators turned
out for each event, and those numbers are expected to more than
double for the 2006 season.
"We're extremely excited about the growing popularity of our
newest attraction, Ballance Moto X, and are anxiously
anticipating much growth and development in the years to come,"
said Amy Cardwell, Sports Sales Director at the Bowling Green
Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Bowling Green is lucky to
have people like the Ballance family who know so much about the
sport and were able to have a lot of foresight when developing
the track."
