ROME, GA - March 15, 2006 - Team
Suzuki/Yoshimura riders Doug Gust and Jeremiah
Jones dropped by Suzuki's Rome, Georgia ATV
manufacturing plant to meet and greet the
employees as part of an ongoing celebration of
the facility's 5 Year Anniversary.
Gust and Jones got a first hand look at how
Suzuki Quads like the Eiger, Vinson, and
KingQuad are manufactured. The Suzuki employees
were really excited to meet the riders as Gust
and Jones toured the factory.? Suzuki employees
showed the racers how various aspects of the
assembly line functioned. Jones and Gust were
both impressed by the process.
After the tour, the employees got a chance to
check out Number 55 and Number 2's LT-R450's and
tour Yoshimura's semi.? Gust and Jones were
available to answer questions and sign posters.
One enthusiastic employee asked Doug and
Jeremiah to sign their autographs on his
forearms. "I'm really a fan of these guys," he
explained. "I love to watch them race and am
really excited to have them here."
The factory is also celebrating the 100,000th
Sport Utility ATV that rolled off the line in
September. The plant currently produces about
200 units in an eight-hour shift and has a
target production goal of 60,000 quads for
2006.? It is one of the larger employers in Rome
with a current workforce of 235 people.
"It's amazing to me," Jeremiah said after
touring the line, "They start with a bare frame
and a few minutes later they have a running
quad!"
Gust was equally impressed, "When you're a
factory rider, you not only ride for yourself,
but all these people too. We are like a family
at Suzuki, that's why that win at Gatorback in
Gainesville, was so important to me. I don't
like letting all these people down."
Suzuki ATV Operations Manager Rod Lopusnak
summed it up, "Racing is part of who we are at
Suzuki. We probably had 50 employees who went to
the race at Macon this weekend. That's what I
like to see - that passion for performance keeps
us on top!"
