JONES MAKES IT TWO FOR TWO FOR SUZUKI AND YOKLEY SURVIVES THE SAND
IN POWERSPORTS ATV TOUR PEACH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AT ECHECONNEE

PowerSports ATV TourMACON, Ga. (June 4, 2006) — Jeremiah Jones and William Yokley won two thrilling Pro ATV finals Sunday in the PowerSports Peach State ATV Championship, Round 4 of the WPSA PowerSports ATV Championship Tour. Jones rode from back to front to win the SuperQuad Pro 450 race, while Yokley overcame a tumble to finish first in the Pro Stock QuadTerrain Challenge event.

Jones (No. 2 Team Suzuki, Yoshimura/Suzuki) left the gate fourth, while two-time WPSA winner John Natalie, Jr. (No. 13 Elka, HMF, Swift/Honda) took the lead at the start. After taking the $1,000 Quad Magazine Holeshot Award, Natalie put on a dominating show, moving out to as much as five seconds in the early laps. However, Jones was on the charge, and he took third on lap three, and three laps later, he was second, just behind Natalie. On lap nine, Jones saw his shot, and he passed Natalie for the lead.

But Natalie wasn’t finished, and he rebounded, pulling up to Jones’ rear nerf bar just as Jones’ quad stalled on the outside of a turn. Jones quickly re-fired his machine, and he led the final two laps for the win, the second for Suzuki this weekend. Natalie finished second, marking his fourth consecutive podium. Jones’ teammate, Doug Gust, who won yesterday’s final on the No. 55 Team Suzuki, Yoshimura/Suzuki, was third, earning him his third podium this season.

“I loved being out there, battling everybody,” said Jones. “The Honda guys had something for us all weekend long. Luckily, Mother Nature took care of us with the weather, and that definitely played a factor for us this weekend. WPSA is brand new to the sport and this is very exciting. I hope it keeps growing because I’m really enjoying running over here.

“Suzuki and Yoshimura have really been behind us this year with this new 450,” added Jones. “I’m glad just to be able to ride it.”

The Pro Stock QuadTerrain Challenge final was another study in back-to-front riding, as Yokley, while challenging ATVriders.com Rock’n’Roll $500 bonus winner Scott Kilby (No. 227 Can-Am, Maxxis, Moose/Can-Am) for the lead, pegged a log in the log-jam section and went over the bars of his quad. Quick work paid off, as Yokley hopped back on, restarted, and made up five places in three laps to take the lead from Michael Swift (No. 217 Can-Am, Maxxis, Rox/Can-Am) on lap five. From there, Yokley was untouched as he cruised to victory, ahead of Brock Parker (No. 493 Can-Am) and Chris Borich (No. 2 Honda).

“I picked my way from the back, but I was going for the lead and I stuffed a log hard,” said Yokley, who earned his first win and his third podium of the season. “I was thrown off the quad and I got bummed out for a second. But I’m used to bad things happening on the race track, so I jumped back on and collected myself. I picked my way back through the field, took the lead on the last lap and I just cruised.

“Can-Am has a super-competitive team and their riders are some of the best of the best, but this Suzuki is a pretty good machine, as well, and I’m having a blast on it,” concluded Yokley.
