ITP TIRES RETURNS TO WPSA
POWERSPORTS ATV TOUR IN 2007
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (Feb. 14, 2007) –
Leading ATV tire manufacturer ITP Tires will
return to the WPSA PowerSports ATV Tour as a
Tour sponsor this season. In addition, ITP has
been named title sponsor of the first race of
the 2007 season, slated for April 28 in Georgia.
Round One of the ATV Tour will be called the
“ITP Southern Open Championship.”
Additionally, ITP will partner with the new
Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team and Team
Yamaha-sponsored ATV riders. Joining ITP’s
racing program for the first time is Carlisle
Tire and Wheel, the parent company of ITP, based
in Aiken, S.C.
“The WPSA PowerSports ATV Tour delivered on
its promises in 2006, making it easy for us to
decide to return to the Tour in 2007,” said ITP
Operations Manager Craig Petersen. “This year,
we’re expanding our involvement in the Tour with
stepped-up factory team support and by bringing
in our parent company, Carlisle Tire, into the
mix.”
ITP boasts a 22-year history in ATV racing,
with consistent podium finishes in every
variation of the sport, from motocross to cross
country racing. This winning record is supported
with more than 18 ATV tire brands, each
engineered to provide maximum traction and
handling for any type of terrain. ITP’s Holeshot
tire line set the standard for ATV racing tires,
which were developed specifically for faster,
hard-packed motocross tracks, such as those used
by the ATV Tour’s MX Series.
“We're pleased to again partner with ITP on
the PowerSports ATV Tour," said PowerSports
Entertainment, Inc. CEO Rick Murphy. “ITP proved
itself an extremely valuable partner in 2006,
and we're excited that partnership will
continue.”
“ITP's long history of excellence was
exemplified in 2006 with its wide use in WPSA
competition,” said Scott O'Malley, PowerSports
Entertainment, Inc. president. “This is truly an
exciting announcement.”
