SMUSA Vet National Hosts NASMOTO's Queen
Mary Qualifying Round
NASMOTO - Where Amateurs Race SuperMoto
before Turning Professional
The sixth NASMOTO regional qualifier is slated
for Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, NV in
conjunction with the SMUSA Vet National on
August 18th and 19th and will include a full
slate of racing including motorcycle, ATVs and
the inaugural Vet Class National Championship.
"We are excited to partner with Supermoto USA
and combine our qualifier with the NOR-CAL
Championship Series," stated Ted Baker, NASMOTO
VP. "There organization is the strongest and
largest attended in the country. It offers fans
a chance to see some of the SuperMoto stars of
tomorrow developing their skills today."
Racers that are fan favorites include youngster
Joey Pascarella and a new challenger Michael
Corbino. At the beginning of the year Corbino
got a win in the 250 class and Pascarella is
looking to settle the score in Reno.
Californians, Casey Yarrow and Vincent Gusande
Jr., are both lightening quick and are making a
name for themselves in the 450 class. In the
last race at Altamont Raceway Guisande dominated
the main event by taking the hole shot and never
looking back. Yarrow is planning to change his
fortune in Reno and fans can expect a show at
the front of the field.
This is a big weekend with team races kicking
the weekend off on Friday, August 17th with
NASMOTO and SMUSA Vet National Championship
races following on Saturday and Sunday. The
racing card includes one of the strongest mini
programs for both adult and kids with five
classes slated for minis and five slated for the
vets.
Highlighting this exciting racing program is the
one-off National Championship for the over 35
racers, which provide bragging rights for the
entire year. "The Veteran Class is the largest
growing SuperMoto segment with significant
number of racers coming back into racing after a
10 year or more absence,? said Brok McAllister .
?We are also seeing guys come in from Motocross
and Road Racing because the racing is tight, fun
and easier on the body."
The Reno-Fernley Raceway is one of the nation's
most exciting venues with a elevation changes
and smooth as glass racing surface, a radical
serpentine uphill section that requires maximum
power and savvy motorcycle handling skills and a
rumored two dirt sections with table tops,
whoops and banked turns. The 1.5 mile track is
the longest on the circuit and will test the
mettle of all the racers.
