Stowell Claims Top
Honors at Thornwood MX for Can-Am
RMR Series, Presented by the New England Dodge
Dealers
WILLIAMSTOWN, NY (Aug. 27, 2007) - Ask any
touring ATV or snowmobile racer if competing in
his or her home state provides a little added
incentive to win, and you’ll get an immediate
'yes.' For New York-based Honda rider James Stowell, that inspiration translates to stellar
performances and frequent wins against some
pretty stiff competition.
Stowell, of Canajoharie, held off Brent Miller
and Freddy Kiefer to notch his fourth Pro
victory of the season Sunday afternoon as Rock
Maple Racing (RMR) completed Round 5 on the
10-race 2007 Can-Am Series for ATVs at Thornwood
MX Park in Williamstown, New York. This was
Stowell's first Pro Unlimited triumph after
claiming top honors in Pro Am action at Twister
Valley (twice) and Thunder Ridge.
Kiefer found redemption in Sunday's Pro Am
Unlimited final, out-dueling Vermont rider Mike
Wood and Miller for his second victory of 2007.
The Pennellville, NY, rider backed up his win in
Round 2 at Crow Hill with another convincing
performance. His win made it a clean sweep for
New York natives in Pro competition at Thornwood
MX.
Steffan Dager recorded his third victory of the
season with a strong run in B Unlimited action.
The Hampstead, NH, native held off fellow
Granite State rider Aaron Blouin to seal the
win. Nick Reynolds earned his fourth win of the
season in the B 91-450cc Limited class, while
Shawn Beaudette, of Camillus, NY, claimed top
honors in 0-90cc Unlimited action.

QuadTerrian high flying action. |
Brandon Miller prevailed in a hotly-contested C
Unlimited final. The youngster from Parish, NY,
held off a hard-charging Trevor Hunter and third
place Chris O'Brien to secure the win. South
Royalton, Vermont's Brad Burbine and NY-based
Mario Ruggeri Jr. completed the top five. John
Platt led a New York sweep of the top three in
Plus 35 action, with David Stoquert and veteran
George Layton filling out the podium for the
over-the-hill gang.
Other winners on Sunday at Thornwood MX include
RMR snocross veteran Michaela Lemieux (Women);
Andrew Ruel (Production Lites); local favorite
Kyle Ludgate of Williamstown (0-90cc Modified);
Alex Parker (0-90cc Limited); Ethan Pearson
(0-70cc Mod, 0-50cc Senior); and Richard
Murtaugh (0-50cc Junior).
In QuadTerrain action Sunday, Scott Moore rode
his Honda to victory in the Terrain 700 final,
while Liz Storti, of Hampstead, NH,
piloted her Can-Am to top honors in the Terrain
Open final.
RMR would like to thank Adam and Jeff Hopkinson
of Thornwood MX for making Round 5 a strong
success. Without great host tracks like yours,
this series would not be possible. The next stop
for the Can-Am RMR Series is set for Sunday,
Sept. 9, at the beautiful Crow Hill Motor Sports
Park in Templeton, Massachusetts.
