Fantasy Moto News, Volume 4
April 16, 2008
Less than one week to the opening round of
the Ultimate Quad MX Championships™. Less
than two weeks to the opening rounds of the
Northern Cup Motocross Series and Ultimate Dirt
Drag Championships™.
This has to be one of the longest off-seasons
anyone has seen. It’s a winter like this
makes us all understand what a handicap we have
by competing in off-road motorsports while
living in the upper Midwest. Let’s all
keep our fingers crossed that Old Man Winter has
finally let go of his death grip on spring!
H2Moto™ is coming to a C-store near you!
Langlade Springs, LLC is producing and
distributing a private label bottled water
through their Northern Chill brand that goes by
the name of H2Moto. The H2Moto line
consists of a race theme labeled bottle and a
recreation ATV theme labeled bottle.
Wagner Shell is the first chain of stations that
has agreed to carry the water and with the folks
from Central Distributing behind it,
distribution is sure to increase dramatically.
Cases of the product will be stuffed with free
tickets to various motorcycle and ATV events in
North Central Wisconsin so every purchase
automatically comes with a chance to WIN!
Ultimate Quad MX Championships presented by
Janssen Motorsports season opener is this coming
Saturday at Motosports Park in Byron, IL.
Complete weekend details are available at
www.fantasymoto.com The
UQMX has added several “Sport” classes to the
ATV line-up this season in an effort to make
ATV-MX more affordable for both new racers and
established vets. Limited mods are allowed
in these classes so the person with the most $$$
isn’t necessarily taking all the checkered
flags. Round 2 of the series heads off to
Wittenberg on April 27th where we’ll add drag
racing to the mix for the first round of the
Ultimate Dirt Drag Championships presented by
Max Power RPMs.(UDDC)
The UDDC is in for a bunch of changes for
2008, starting with all new class structures
that have been developed over the years by River
View Dragway. Membership is NOT required
to compete at UDDC events. You can race as
many or as few events as you choose without a
membership. If racers wish to earn points
toward the series championship, they will need a
current year points card. The point system
for the UDDC is changing to reflect that of the
Midwest Point Series and further the consistency
drag racers can come to expect from various
tracks and promoters statewide. There has
also been some schedule changes for the series
in recent weeks. Racers are encouraged to
view the updated classes, schedules and rules at
www.fantasymoto.com
Wittenberg – Time and weather permitting,
we’re going to see some nice changes and
upgrades to the Wittenberg facility thanks to
some new equipment acquired over the winter.
The drag strip is being graded, sifted and
lengthened to provide a better launch, a safer
run and more adequate shutdown time. The
MX track is also due for a bit of a make-over as
we hope to have the time to redesign some of the
infield jump combinations to increase the “fun
factor” for racers and the visibility for
spectators over the main section of racetrack.
A little help from Mother Nature is going to be
crucial in getting the changes done for the
first events next weekend, April 26-27.
The Northern Cup Motocross Series is stepping
up its commitment to racers at the perfect time.
Yamaha has finally joined the NCM efforts with
six, factory contingency paying events for 2008
– music to many racers ears. K™ will be
on hand with trackside support at numerous
rounds of the series as well. We now have
three major manufactures in Kawasaki, Yamaha,
and K™ dedicating resources to the Northern Cup
Motocross Series. Honda and Suzuki
are missing the boat – maybe someone filed the
memo in the wrong place?
Answer/MSR contingency. Just about
everyone buys at least one set of new gear each
season. It only makes sense to buy from a
company that is going to pay you for your
finishes. Answer/MSR support the Northern
Cup Motocross Series, the Ultimate Quad MX
Championships and the Ultimate Dirt Drag
Championships with contingency. If you
plan to cash in on their offer, make sure you
get registered for the program prior to the
first race of the season. Check out
www.NorthernCupMX.com or
www.fantasymoto.com for complete info and
registration forms. Lucas Katers earned
$372 in contingency in 2007 by wearing MSR gear.
Had he chosen to wear another brand of gear, he
would have earned a big fat $0. Get in the
game and get registered for a great program that
rewards you for your loyalty and your finishes.
2-stroke Mania – as almost everyone else on
the planet, we got caught up in the 4-stroke
craze years ago. We know many of you love
your 4-strokes, and for ease of riding, we don’t
blame you, but whether you’re a 4-stroke lover
or a 2-stroke lover, you have to read the blog
we found over at OnThePipeRacing.com
Check out the
2-stroke Militia website and make sure you
read the center column on their home page.
In an effort of continued commitment to the
survival of the 2-stroke as a less expensive
choice in competing in MX, the Northern Cup
Series is adding both a 2-stroke Open (payback
class) and a 2-stroke B/C to all NCM events in
2008. Fantasy Moto tested the concept last
September in Wittenberg with promising results.
Twenty-one 2-strokes took to the line in what
was some of the best racing on the day.
Why? If you didn’t click on the 2-stroke
Militia link in the previous paragraph, back up
and do so right now. There are a lot of
2-stroke fans out there and the number is
growing every day as we’ve all come to the
reality of emptying our wallets to purchase and
maintain a 4-stroke.
And now for a shameless plug for our
sponsors:
We’ll soon be outfitting our Yamaha
YZ125 with a 167 kit from MaxPower RPMs.
We’re confident our Dunlop tires will handle the
increase in power. Hopefully all of our
off-season work will allow us to hang on to our
Pro-Tapers. For safety sake, we hope the
competition is outfitted in Answer gear and
wearing Scott goggles to protect them from the
roost. We’ll keep the tree huggers happy
with our super clean burning Amsoil premix.
Hopefully our efforts will net us a nice trophy
from Action Awards. Oh, yeah – we’ll be
drinking H2Moto by Northern Chill after the
races if you’d like to join us. On our way
home, we’ll more than likely be stopping at a
Wagner Shell Station to fuel up the hauler and
load up on some munchies. God forbid we
get hurt, then we’d have to visit the Dr’s over
at the Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox
Valley. You can find us bench racing
during the week at Janssen Motorsports as we
prepare our machines for another round of racing
at the Northern Cup Motocross Series, Ultimate
Dirt Drag Championships or the Ultimate Quad MX
Championships.
