Holmes Dominates with Double Win

Paul Holmes |
Paul Holmes continued his dominance in the
IOPD British Quad-X Championship with two
convincing wins at round three this weekend.
Held for the first time at the Mildenhall
track in Suffolk , ATV World Yamaha
rider Paul Holmes qualified comfortably in first
place. In race one Paul was fourth into the
first corner but it didn’t take the current
under 21 British Champion long to get into first
place. From there, Paul pulled a 20 second gap
on second place rider Stef Murphy who was also
riding well.
In race two Paul Holmes was riding in fifth
place into the first corner but soon took the
lead, pulling another massive 20 second lead
from the rest of the chasing pack. With a
flawless ride and a faultless quad, Paul is now
leading the championship with a healthy margin.
Paul said after the race; “Coming to
Mildenhall for the first time has been really
exciting. I enjoy learning new tracks and I’ve
come away with the best possible result. The
quad has been 100% reliable all weekend and that
gives me more confidence as we move into the
busy part of the season.”
Paul wishes to thank all the 2008 sponsors
for their continued support and to the
organisers who ran a well organised meeting and
were a credit to the club. ATV World Rider Dean
Thompson also had a promising weekend at the
first round of the Irish Quad Racing
Championship. Despite qualifying in 15th and
suffering from some technical difficulties, Dean
finished race one in fifth place. Making the
move this year from youth racing to riding with
the adult pro’s hasn’t phased Dean as he went on
to take an impressive seventh place in both race
two and three on his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450.
