Paul Holmes took an
impressive second and fifth place at this
weekends round four of the EMX Quad European
Championships in Bielstein, Germany. With John
Mitchell unable to attend through an injury he
sustained in Portugal, Paul impressed and is now
the highest ranked Brit in the Championship.
Race one started well and Paul was fifth into
the first corner. He worked his way to second
place taking the fastest lap in the process
finishing ahead of fellow Brits Paul Winrow in
seventh, Ricky Tordoff in eighth and James
Helliwell in 14th.
Paul started race two just missing out on the
holeshot. He was pushing hard in fifth place and
just getting into his strongest part of the race
when an accident caused an unexpected finish to
the race as it was red flagged halfway through.
Finishing third overall on the day, Paul Holmes
is now running in sixth place overall. All top
six places at this round of the European
Championships were taken by the all new
Goldspeed MXR and MXF tyres.
Paul had used the third round of the NETT
championships at Deanmoor earlier this month to
prepare for this weekend’s European round. Paul
totally dominated the proceedings taking three
straight wins from three. Paul has also been
testing the brand new range of Goldspeed special
compound and tread tyres, taking them to
numerous tracks and he’s impressed with their
performance.
Martin Bembow, ATV
World Yamaha’s sponsored endurance rider has
been taking the British Endurance Championships
by storm. Suffering initially with a minor
problem and taking eighth place in round one,
Welshman Bembow has gone on to take fourth place
in both rounds two and three. His last race saw
him make a smart move over rival Paul Window to
take the holeshot in spectacular fashion! Martin
Bembow has just moved into the overall lead of
the Welsh Championships after taking a first
place this weekend!
After technical problems and an injury for
John Mitchell blighting round two of the
European Quad Championship, it’s been a very
hectic few weeks for everyone at team ATV World
Yamaha.
John Mitchell has
been working on an extensive rehabilitation
programme in his effort to be ready for the next
round of the British Championships after
sustaining a nasty injury while riding in
Portugal at round two of the European
Championships. He stretched the medial
collateral ligament in his knee which prevents
the knee from moving freely. After a few weeks
of rest, John hopes to back on his quad in the
near future and is looking towards the next
British on the 29th June at HawkstonePark.
Team ATV World Yamaha has been joined by
mechanical expert Nick Booth. With over 20 years
experience at top race level, Nick will head up
the testing and development and has been working
closely with team manager Martin Fletcher on an
exciting new package brought in during mid
season testing. Martin said “We expect to get
some good results in the next few races. John
and Paul are both riding well and the recent
development work on the team Laeger’s Yamaha
YFZ450’s have shown impressive results.”
John continues to train and improve his
fitness ahead of the next British Championship
round at Hawkstone Park.
Hope to see you there.
