IXCR 2008 Round 5 Rain Makeup
Indiana Cross Country
Racing (8/3/2008) - Canaan, In. Mills Farms
-- After rain washed out our last race we came
back looking to put on our best race of the
year. And with a big turn out it was
accomplished. The sun was out along with
the dust but the racers were able to push thru
in the hills of southern Indiana. "Taking
the fight back to the woods" was the name of
this race with the race being presented by
Demaree Motorsports. This was our first trip to
Mills farm and what a great location this is to
hold a race. This track features
everything that should be in an XC race!
Hills, creeks, rocks, roots, mud, dust, open
fields, and tight woods. With over 200
total entries for the day I think everyone
agrees this places ROCKS!!!! We will be
back at Mills farm on August 24th for our make
up race and look change this track up completely
for everyone so come prepared for something
different and fun!
The bikes got a really special treat with
GNCC Pro Paul Whibley taking his Suzuki to the
front of the pack with some blistering fast lap
times. Jake Fiddler was back again taking
the runner up slot on his Monster Energy Kawi.
And Derek Spangler rounded out the podium on
this fine day. The bikes got their own
section where I tried to slow them down with
some one line track but apparently I’ll have to
do a better job as most of them flew right thru
this area, but they all seemed to enjoy the fast
track.
Some of our bikers found out just how slick
slate rock is with water on it but others had no
problems zipping thru the water. Jeff Mote
took the A class win Kyle Binhack winning the B
Class. Our largest class of the day B
Class Lites saw Ted Mullins take the “W” with
Chis Douglas on his rear fender. Jeff
Enderle came up from Kentucky to win the Class
and Joey Stanley won the Vet A class and is the
current point’s leader. Erik Leonard put
his Suzuki out front in the 30+ B class with
Jeff Sweetin as our runner up. Robert
Williams dominated the 40+A Class and Matt
Yeiter took control of the 40+ B class.
Stan Draude put the orange KTM out front in our
Super Senior class and that wraps up our bikes
classes.
Our quads took off right at 1:00 and Todd
Demaree took his Demaree Motorsports Honda to
the corner first with Donnie Ockeman in tail.
Donnie was able to make the pass on Todd when he
snapped a chain at the start of the second lap.
Donnie went on to with the Pro class on his
Factory Yamaha ride with Ryan Lane and Moto-Xperts
rider Parker Jones rounding out the podium.
The A class was won by Mike Husband followed by
Dennis Switzer, and Brandon Symmes. The
16-25 B Class was won by Kyle Houghton on his
KTM followed by S.I.C.C. rider Fred Marley and
Ty Ramsey in Third.
Chris Howard and Chad Hieronimus battled it
out in the 26+ B class while Tyler Bostock won
the 16-21 C Class ahead of Justin Kirchhoff and
Jay Humphery. Russell Keck and Matt
Williams put their Yami’s up front in the 22-29
C Class. Mike Muskopf brought the Kawi out to
win the 30+ C Class ahead of Michael Ulery and
Bryce Strader. And Jake Humphery came out
our winner of the First year racer class ahead
of 29 other riders. John East won the sport
class while Josh Klemme came over from Missouri
to win our Sport Lites class. Bruce
Marshal was rolling out in the Vet Class and won
just like David Robinson did in the 40+ Class.
Andrew Langston and Chris Sigman won the Ute
class and we had just over 160 quads compete in
this race.
We will take a couple weeks off and come back
for more action at Mills Farms on August 24th as
our rain out date. We will have youth at
this next event so please bring the kids out to
spectate and participate! This is a great
location to camp out so keep that in mind for
next round.
Until next time, Stay between the trees!
