Marois Sweeps Pro Classes at New England Dragway for Can-Am RMR Series
Presented by

EPPING, N.H. (Aug. 11,
2008) - Whenever a racer competes in his
or her home state, there's always a little extra
incentive to do well in front of family and
friends. The pride from beating riders from
other states on their own turf often pushes them
to new heights.
Weare native Luke Marois reached inside and
found that extra spark on Sunday afternoon,
sweeping the Pro class finals as Rock Maple
Racing (RMR) completed Round 7 of its 10-race
2008 Can-Am Series for ATVs at historic New
England Dragway.
This was the second home-state sweep in three
events for Marois, as the 19 year-old also
prevailed in Round 5 at the River's Edge ATV
Park in Canaan. Marois held off rival Brian
Daigle and Mike Taylor for top honors in Pro Am
Unlimited, then completed the sweep with a
convincing win in Pro Unlimited.
Taylor found redemption in the A Unlimited
final, out-gunning Aaron Blouin and Steffan
Dager for top honors. Brad Burbine powered his
Honda to victory in the B Unlimited class, with
Maine rider Michael Gustus second on a Yamaha.
Justin Chamberland gave Maine fans reason to
cheer, as the Pittston native claimed the Open
Amateur final over Charles Sawyer and Dale
Robinson.
Robinson, of Sharon, VT, also registered a
victory in a hotly-contested Production Lites
final. Honda machines swept the podium as Curtis
Gillilan and Chamberland finished second and
third respectively. Andrew Ruel returned to his
winning form Sunday, posting his sixth win of
the season in C Unlimited action. Ruel, 14, of
Enfield, held off Glynn Desilva and Josh
Bennett.
Other winners in the MX classes Sunday
include Colin Lancaster (Plus 35); Jill Walsh
(Women Unlimited); Alex Parker (0-90cc
Modified); Brittany Soucy (0-90cc Limited); Jake
Chamberland (0-90cc Unlimited); Caleb Conners
(0-70cc Modified); and Kolton Gillilan (0-50cc
Senior and Junior).
Rock Maple's new Pit Bike series was also in
action at Epping on Sunday. Northfield, New
Hampshire's Jesse Bourgue led the way with
victories in Pro Open and Pro 12-inch. The
potent brother act of Chris and Shawn Lavoie
finished second and third in the Open final,
while David Souza claimed third behind Chris
Lavoie in the class for 12-inch wheel diameter.
Jeremiah Murphy took top honors in the Pro
10-inch final, while Kurt Smigelski won Open
Amateur. Other winners in Pit Bike competition
include Mike Lowrey (Youth 12-inch & Youth
10-inch); and Ken Lowrey (Stock 10-inch & Stock
12-inch).
