Top ATV Riders Invited to Steel City
Invitational
ATV Open scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30
DELMONT, Pa. (Aug. 19, 2008)
-- Saturday, Aug. 30 will feature more than just
the best off-road motorcyclists in motocross, as
the top 20 ATV riders in the North America are
set to compete in the Second Annual Steel City
AMA Pro ATV Open. The invitational event is
scheduled as part of the Saturday show at Steel
City Raceway as part of the AMA Toyota National
Motocross Championship weekend. Amateur ATV
racing is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 31.
The National Motocross Championship will take
to the track for its finals on Saturday at 12:30
p.m. with opening ceremonies, followed by
motorcycle racing in the Motocross Lites,
Women's Motocross, and Motocross classes. The
ATV Open is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. In addition,
The Billy Morris Band will play special shows
presented by Scott Goggles 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
"We're excited to have the Pro and Amateur
ATVs join the AMA National Motocross
Championship weekend at Steel City for the
second-straight year," said Event Director Tim
Cotter. "Along with moving the event to
Saturday, adding the Billy Morris Band to the
card, the ATV event will be yet another added
bonus for those fans wishing to see some of the
best motocross racing worldwide.
"The Saturday show will truly be a motocross
spectacular!"
Leading the charge into Steel City is
recently crowned ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA Pro
National Champion and Center Valley, Pa.
resident Dustin Wimmer. Wimmer will be joined by
2008 AMA Manufacturers' Cup winner Team Suzuki
teammates Chad Wienen and Doug Gust.
In addition, Can-Am's Epic Racing and Warnert
Racing will bring five riders, led by
Pennsylvania's John Natalie, Jr. Natalie, from
Houtzdale, Pa., will be teamed with fellow
Warnert rider Cody Miller, as well as Epic
Racing's Jeremy Lawson, Greg Gee and Sage Baker.
Josh Creamer, Russell Shumaker and Keith
Little will carry the black-and-green colors for
Team Monster Energy Kawasaki, while Joe Haavisto
will also compete on a Kawasaki.
Harold Goodman and Josh Upperman will race
for Factory Honda, while Cale Downen and 2008
Top AMA Pro Privateer Rocco Arno, Jr. will ride
privateer Hondas.
Rath Racing will bring its new Polaris quads
to Steel City with Jason Dunkelberger and a
rider to be named later.
Factory Yamaha will feature Pat Brown and a
soon-to-be-announced second rider.
The Second Annual Steel City AMA Pro ATV Open
will feature Pro racing on Saturday, Aug. 30 and
a full card of Amateur racing on Sunday, Aug.
