Snowshoe, W.Va. (September 16, 2008) -- The
sixth-annual Can-Am Grand National Cross Country
Series Charity Golf Tournament delivered the
usual array of skilled and unskilled golf talent
along with a nice pile of donations for the
Rider Down Foundation, a non-profit organization
that raises funds for injured bike and ATV
racers.
Snowshoe Mountain Resort hosted the
tournament on their challenging 18-hole Raven
course the Friday before the weekend’s GNCC
race. Team KTM, consisting of mechanics Don
Macan, Chad Henderson, Paul Nixon and David
“Hollywood” Cripe, romped home as champions in
the scramble. For their efforts, the team
collected four Ogio Golf Bags, and their names
will be attached to the GNCC Golf Tournament
traveling trophy.
In addition, a few holes were designated to
test skills. Closest to the Hole competitions
were topped by Topper Morain (Hole 3), Jason
Hooper (Hole 6), Steve Toth (Hole 12) and Amy
Andrews (Hole 14). Elliot Skaggs, Team Yamaha
mechanic for eight-time GNCC Champion Bill
Ballance, won the longest drive contest at Hole
5.
In all, over 40 golfers participated despite
threats of rain throughout the day. In addition,
GNCC sponsors pitched in $250 sponsorships for
each hole on the course, with 100 percent of the
funds donated to the Rider Down Foundation. The
sponsored holes generated approximately $4000
for the Foundation. For more information on the
