Heartland 10-Hour Challenge ATV Endurance Race
PIAA-equipped
UTV also captures 3-Hour UTV race and B Class
in the 10-Hour Challenge
PORTLAND, Ore. – Once again, PIAA lamps lit
the way to victory lane at an ATV / UTV
endurance race. This time, Cliff Beasley,
Richard Cecco and Michael Swift, teamed up to
capture the Pro Utility class at the recent GBC
Heartland Challenge endurance race held at the
Blue Ridge Run course near Carlisle, Iowa.
The Beasley, Cecco and Swift trio piloted their
PIAA Powersport Can-Am Outlander 800R ATV to the
class championship and ninth overall in the
grueling 10-hour race, the final hours fought in
darkness, where their PIAA lamps delivered a
decided advantage.
"Endurance ATV racing is the ultimate test for
both rider and machine," said Del Bohlman,
Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs, "The three
racers all rode a smart race, and our
PIAA-equipped Outlander proved its durability by
beating the next closest class competitor
easily. This is
a big win for Can-Am and proves we have toughest
utility ATV in racing."
PIAA Corporation, the leader in Powersports
lighting and accessories, was the presenting
sponsor of the GBC Motorsports Heartland
Challenge, held November 7-8.
Other PIAA-equipped winners included the
Thunder Monkey Racing (Manson, Neb.) which
captured the ATV B Class title, and on Friday
night, Lube-Muncur Racing (Casper, Wyo.) took
home overall honors in the 3-hour UTV race.
Additional top finishers using PIAA lighting
included: 4th place, Pro ATV Team, C&D Racing;
3rd place, B Class, 4 The Ride; 3rd place, 40+
Class, Karst Motorsports; 2nd place, 30+ Class,
Pro Motorsports; and 2nd place, Women, Tuff E
Nuff.
"Once again, PIAA lighting proved to be a
winning advantage in ATV and UTV endurance
racing," said Gordon Robertson, PIAA Powersports
business unit manager. "There is no better way
to demonstrate the superior lighting performance
of PIAA powersports lamps and bulbs than in
competition."
The Heartland Challenge's unique 10-hour race
was contested over a demanding mix of motocross,
cross-country, and hare scramble sections, plus
other surprises. In all, 12 classes of
competition raced simultaneously – with no
breaks or time-outs.
In addition to being the presenting sponsor,
PIAA also offered a lucrative contingency
program that encouraged racers to use PIAA
halogen and HID lighting products. PIAA
also made PIAA lamp kits available at a reduced
price to competitors.
