Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer Finishes Runner Up in
Season Opener

San Bernardino, Calif. – Monster Energy
Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer started the season off
consistent with two great motos to finish
runner-up at the season opener of the AMA ATV
Motocross Championship at Glen Helen Raceway.
His moto one victory helped him secure second
place overall after he finished third in the
second moto. Teammate Chad Wienen battled during
his first moto to finish fourth, but did not
finish the second moto and eventually came away
with a 12th place overall.

Starting Off On The Right Foot
After training hard and putting in the time
during the off-season, Creamer was able to walk
out of the first round with confidence that he
can win. His moto one win proved just that and
he remained consistent with a third place in
moto two to tie his best finish in the series.
“Starting off the season in second place is
great,” said Creamer. “I’m not disappointed at
all because I want to be consistent. I felt I
did that today. But as long as we get on the box
in the future I will be happy.”

Expectations
A season opener is full of anticipation, not
only for the fans but for the riders as well.
Creamer has one thing on his mind as the season
starts.
“I want to win,” said Creamer. “Winning is
obviously my first goal. I also realize that to
win championships you have to be consistent and
I feel that second overall definitely helped
start the season off right.”

New Team Member, Chad Wienen
Wienen’s first moto allowed him to show off his
skill as he worked his way through the pack to
fourth. The second moto was a different story as
the rough track of Glen Helen Raceway brought
Wienen’s race to a stand still.
“In the first moto I was up there with the
pack, but I stalled it on my own,” said Wienen.
“I ended up coming back up to fourth for that
moto so I was happy with that. From there, I
just started concentrating on the second moto.
The bike was running great and I knew I could
get up there, but I think I got a rock stuck in
my fan halfway through the moto so my engine
wasn’t cooling what it needed to.”

Optimism Is Key
Wienen didn’t get the greatest start to the
season, but he is optimistic about the long
season ahead of him with 11 events still
remaining.
“This really is a long season and anything
can happen,” said Wienen. “Right now, I am just
looking ahead to Alabama for the next race and
hopefully I can put this race behind me.”

Heading Back East
The series has completed its West Coast
appearance and now heads back east to Alabama
for round two. Creamer hasn’t had the greatest
luck with the Millcreek Raceway, but is claiming
this year is different.
“I’m looking at the second round as a fresh
start,” said Creamer. “I know I haven’t had the
greatest luck there in the past, but it’s a new
season and I am putting the past behind me.”
