2009 WORCS Round 3,
Lake Havasu, AZ
Hurricane. Ut- 4/3/09 -- DATS Racing headed to Lake Havasu Arizona this past
weekend, where they would encounter Rnd #3 of
the 2009 WORCS Racing series. An unfortunate set
back with their second year Pro- Robbie
Mitchell, separating and tearing ligaments in
his left shoulder would be a frustrating start
to the Arizona round. But, like classic
DATS fashion and series support, they would
bring on WORCS Racing’s Ryan Piplic to join the
squad for the weekend in Havasu.
"We were so bummed for Robbie, who injured his shoulder on
Thursday while testing in Utah. It was a fluke
crash too, but sometimes the smaller ones are
the worst. So, after hearing back that the
soonest return may be August, we decided to
phone up Piplic to come on board. We just want
to keep our sponsors happy and show them that we
are behind this program. It worked out well and
Ryan did good for the short time he had to
adapt.” Darin Snow of DATS Racing.
Jonny Shafe rode a very strong race where he would find
a consistent pace to capture 7th O/A, while new
addition Piplic would finish just outside the
top ten for 11th in the Sunday feature.
“Havasu is tuff, I’ve done this race for the past two
years and I can tell you I was definitely happy
to be watching and wrenching for Johnny today.
I’m bummed for Robbie, but he will be back
strong and I want like to thank Piplic for
stepping up and representing us well today.” Dax
Snow- Shafe’s Mechanic and co-team owner of DATS
Racing.
DATS Youth Am Squad posted three first place
wins along with two seconds plate trophies as
well, as the continue to dominate the mini ranks
at WORCS.
