Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing’s Chris Borich
captured an impressive second-place finish in
the weekend’s round six of the Weekend Warrior
Titan GNCC event in Lafayette, Tennessee. So far
this season, Borich has won two races on his
Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 and this
podium result marks his second runner-up finish.
Currently, Borich is third in the overall
championship points.
In the AMA ATV MX Series, Rockstar Makita
Suzuki Racing‘s Doug Gust walked away with a
thirdplace finish from round five of the AMA ATV
Motocross Series this weekend at Sunset Ridge MX
Park in Walnut, Illinois. The multi-time Pro ATV
MX Champion carded fourth- and sixth-place moto
finishes on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer
R450 to capture the final podium spot. This
result marks Gust’s first podium of the 2009
season. Currently, Rockstar Makita Suzuki
teammate Dustin Wimmer is out with injury. Prior
to getting injured, Wimmer was leading the
series and hopes to resume racing soon.
Chris Borich:
“At the start, I took an inside line on my
Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 and was
able to avoid a bottleneck that caught a lot of
other guys. But I ended up mid-pack and then
worked my way into fifth pretty quickly. Then I
just tried to ride smart. I like the track and
it would have been nice if the weather had been
better, but I just made the best of it. I just
wanted to stay consistent because I really
wanted to put my Suzuki on the podium.”
Doug Gust:
“It feels good to be back up on the podium. I’ve
been training really hard and it paid off. I was
able to get a good start off the line on my
Rockstar Makita Suzuki LT-R450. The track was
really good, there were good lines to choose
from and there were plenty of places to pass. In
moto two, I almost tipped over going into the
first turn, but I hung on and ended up in about
seventh off the start. I just stayed consistent
and was able to capitalize on a few things and
ended up on the podium at the end. Now, I’m
going to head home and train for the next three
weeks so I’m ready when we head to Steel City.”
Dustin Wimmer:
“I’m hoping to return to racing for the next
round and I’ve been doing everything I can to
heal fast. It makes it really hard when you put
so much work and effort into winning and staying
on top, then to get injured. It’s so
frustrating; I can’t even really describe how it
makes me feel.” Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory
Racing will race next .the Geico Mountain Ridge
GNCC in Somerset, Pennsylvania, the weekend of
May 16-17, 2009, and at the ATV Stampede
National at Steel City Raceway in Delmont,
Pennsylvania, the weekend of May 23-24, 2009.
