Weekend Warrior Titan
May 2, 2009 – Weekend Warrior Titan –
Lafayette, Tennessee -
Round #6 was being held at a new location;
Lafayette TN. So, I was especially excited to
head to this new destination and despite the
weather forecast I remained optimistic. When I
arrived at the track early Friday I had just
enough time to take care of a couple things on
the quad before the storms rolled in. It rained
nearly all afternoon and the forecast called for
rain all evening and into Saturday.
Saturday morning it was pouring down rain and
it was obvious by the destruction in the pits
that it would take its toll on the track.
Watching the morning race I saw that the course
was plenty muddy and I realized it would be a
long day; but one I was ready for. On the line I
remained calm and just prepared to ride smart
and to keep myself out of trouble. I had a great
jump off the line when the flag went up. I was
edged out for the holeshot but by the time I hit
the woods I had gained control of the lead. I
made a few small mistakes on the first lap that
cost me a few positions but I charged forward to
make up the ground and was scored in seventh
place at the end of the lap.
On lap two I pitted for the essentials and
headed back out onto the quickly deteriorating
course. I stayed focused and avoided any
trouble for the whole lap. On lap three I gained
the lead and tried to pull away. I knew the
margin between myself and second place was not
huge but I continued to charge forward. On the
white flag lap I still maintained the lead and
was able to stay there throughout the remainder
of the race; I took the checkered flag earning
my second win of the 2009 season!
After this win I hold the points lead; there
is a lot of season left but at this point in
time I could not be happier heading into round
number 7. I have a lot of great sponsors and
supporters that have a hand in this victory and
