Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Wimmer Wins both -
Motos & Overall at Red Bud
Rockstar Makita
Suzuki’s Gust finishes up in fourth Round 10 –
AMA ATV Motocross Series
Buchanan, Michigan - Red Bud Track ‘N’ Trail
- August 1-2, 2009 - Rockstar Makita Suzuki
Racing‘s Dustin Wimmer continued his winning
ways at the penultimate round
of AMA ATV Motocross this past weekend at Red
Bud Track ‘N’ Trail in Buchanan, Michigan. The
defending AMA ATV MX Champion Wimmer raced his
Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 to two
impressive moto wins to take the overall
victory. With one round remaining in the season,
Wimmer leads
the points chase and has captured a total of six
wins so far this year. Rockstar Makita Suzuki
teammate
Doug Gust brought home an impressive
fourth-place finish from Red Bud, having picking
up third- and
sixth-place moto finishes. As the racing season
draws to a close in a few weeks, Gust is
currently in
fourth place in the title chase.
Dustin Wimmer:
“My Suzuki was working great off the line. I saw
(Joe) Byrd coming up on me, my but my Rockstar
Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 got it done for me.
It really feels good to take another win and get
even
more points. In moto one, I was in fourth off
the line and I just started picking people off.
I caught up to
(Josh) Creamer halfway through and passed him.
In moto two, I saw Byrd and Creamer coming up
behind me so I picked up the pace a little bit
and kept my lead. I always try for the win and
I’ll be trying
for the win again at Loretta’s at the last
round. I’m going to ride smart and do the best I
can so I can win
another championship for Suzuki.”
Doug Gust:
“My Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 ran
great and pulled hard off the starts. The first
moto
went good. I passed a guy for third and I was
catching Josh Creamer but I didn’t have enough
time to
try for a pass. The track was in good shape in
this round and it was really a lot of fun. I had
some
trouble in moto two. I got some dirt in my
goggles and it got in my eyes and it was really
bothering me. I
could hardly see. I was hoping to do a little
better than fourth overall because I really
wanted to win this
round. I’m really looking forward to the final
round at Loretta’s. I like that track and I
think I’ll do pretty
good there.”
Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing will race next
at .the final round of AMA ATV Motocross at the
Dirt Days
National at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane
Mills, Tennessee, the weekend of August 15-16,
2009.
