Mill Creek ATV Pro
Motocross National set for Pell City March 28
Pell City, Alabama (March 17, 2010) -- The
fastest four-wheeled QUAD (ATV) racers in
America will make their return March 27-28 to
the nationally recognized Mill Creek Raceway for
the opening round of the 2010 ITP
Tires/Moose Racing AMA ATV Motocross
Championship Presented by Parts Unlimited.
The Mill Creek race will feature the top
professional ATV riders in America competing on
a closed course featuring jumps, bumps and
corners. Riders will compete on custom-built
450cc machines from top manufacturers such as
Can-Am, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Polaris, Suzuki
and Yamaha. Riders stand to rake in six-figure
incomes from the large purse and contingency
bonuses, all while competing for the most
coveted honor in ATV racing: The AMA Pro
Motocross Championship.
Pro riders will practice on Saturday and race
on Sunday. Fans are invited to come early each
day to tour the open pro pits and attend free
autograph sessions, while also checking out the
best amateur riders in the nation, who will be
racing all weekend.
The event takes place March 27-28 at Mill
Creek Motocross, located just a short distance
from Birmingham. The track is surrounded by
hardwoods, pine, creeks and rolling hills.
Over the years, Mill Creek has matured and
become a nationally recognized facility, with
wide lanes, flowing natural jumps and enormous
elevation changes. The track features a mix of
fast and slow technical sections into its nearly
two-mile layout.
The pro class will race in two 20-minute
races on Sunday, with the best combined scores
of both races determining the overall winner.
The big story of the weekend is defending AMA
Champion Dustin Wimmer of Center Valley, Pa. The
21-year old Rockstar/Yoshimura Suzuki factory
rider has been the national champion for the
past 2 years. Honda factory rider and
series runner-up Joe Byrd will come hungry for
the top spot on the podium and Chad Wienen will
challenge for wins at every event this season.
The weekend also includes a full slate of
amateur racing with classes for riders as young
as six-years-old, and veteran classes for riders
over the age of 50. Practice, qualifying and
racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
