Brea, Calif. – July 19, 2010 – Round nine of
the AMA ATV Motocross Championship at Unadilla,
New York, proved to be another great weekend of
racing for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki ATV team.
Utilizing their race-proven QuadRacer R450s,
points-leader Josh Creamer added another win to
his already impressive season, while defending
champion Dustin Wimmer logged another consistent
second-place finish.
“I couldn’t ask for anything more from my quad
or my team,” Creamer said. “I just want to keep
this momentum going and finish off the season on
top!”
The weekend started in excellent fashion for
Wimmer. The two-time series champion won the
fastest qualifier award and looked poised for a
great result. When the gates fell on the first
moto, Wimmer had a second-place start while
Creamer was just a few spots back. As the race
wore on, Wimmer continued to chase after the
leader while Creamer moved into the third spot.
However, time had run out for Wimmer and
Creamer, who would cross the line in second and
third, respectively.
The start of moto two saw both of the Rockstar
Makita Suzukis in the top five by the end of the
first lap. This time, however, it was Creamer in
second. As Creamer embarked on a race-long
battle for the lead, Wimmer was battling for
fourth on the notoriously rough track. Creamer
and the QuadRacer R450 were able to power into
the lead and hold on to the finish, while Wimmer
kept it consistent, finishing in fourth.
For Creamer, the 3-1 moto scores were enough to
give him his sixth overall victory of the year,
while Wimmer's 2-4 moto scores gave him second,
putting the Suzuki QuadRacer R450 in the top two
spots of the podium.
"The QuadRacer R450 worked out really well and
overall it handled good throughout the track!"
said Wimmer. "I got two good holeshots and the
first race went pretty well. I came out second,
but couldn't make up any ground and stayed there
the whole moto. In the second moto, I ended up
fourth. It was pretty hard to pass and the track
was rough, but overall, the race went well."
"It was a great race," said Yoshimura R&D of
America’s Marketing Manager Kory Ellis, who
overseas the team. "Josh and Dustin both got on
the podium, the QuadRacer R450 continued to work
great, and with two races left in the season,
hopefully we will have the championship wrapped
up by the next round!"
Creamer leads Wimmer in the championship points
by 30 points as the series heads into Buchanan,
Michigan for Round 10 of the AMA ATV Motocross
Championship at the famed Red Bud MX track.
