Twin Air Rider Dustin
Wimmer Wins NEATV-MX Titles
(10/17/11) – Twin Air sponsored rider Dustin
Wimmer is the 2011 NEATV-MX Champion in both the
Pro and Pro-Am classes.
After a year-long battle with former teammate
and reigning ATV-MX champion Josh Creamer, it
all came down to the last round of the series.
Going into the final race at Hemond’s MX in
Minot, ME Wimmer would need to win both Motos
and have Creamer finish third or worse in one
Moto to win the championship. This would be a
tall order as these two racers have been bumper
to bumper all year long.
Moto 1 would start off like many of the races
this year with Wimmer taking the hole shot and
Creamer right behind. Wimmer was riding strong
and determined to stay in front of Creamer. The
Hemond’s MX track offers up a long track and
riders were nearing the three minute mark for
lap times. Wimmer would appear first from the
backside of the track with the lead. Creamer,
however, would not. A broken chain would end his
moto. Wimmer would go on to claim the victory
and turn a 10 point deficit into a 20 point lead
in the series.
In Moto 2 Wimmer would only need to ride
smart and finish the race to win the
championship. He started the Moto in third but
took over the number two spot shortly into the
race. Knowing that he didn’t need to beat
Creamer in the Moto and not wanting to throw
away the championship, Wimmer would finish the
Moto in second and take the overall for the day
and the Pro Class Championship for the season.
Wimmer had previously wrapped up the Pro Am
class Championship making it two for two.
Twin Air would like to congratulate Dustin on
a great season. His Twin Air equipped Suzuki
LT-R 450 ran solid all year and allowed him to
take home another championship.
