The General GNCC Pro ATV Race Report

Washington, Georgia, March 17, 2012 - National Guard / Coastal / Bowers Motorcycle Supplies / Yokley Racing Team rider Jarrod McClure did not finish today after experiencing a mechanical failure.  There were 173 total entries including 16 XC1 Pro racers.

There are only six days between the last GNCC ATV race in Florida and this race in Georgia.  Jarrod had the misfortune of having a mechanical failure at the last race, and had to make the repairs and get everything cleaned & prepped in just a few days.  He was able to get everything ready to go, and had some time on Friday to test the ATV and get in some riding.

The machine setup needs to be changed for Georgia from sandy conditions in Florida to hard packed clay.  Jarrod had been getting great starts recently, but when the flag dropped, his machine did not immediately fire up.  He was in the back of the pack and completed lap 1 in 12th position.  He charged hard for the next 2 laps and worked his way to the lead pack in 6th position.  He was in a good position and was able to run with the leaders.

Then, it happened again…another mechanical failure, this time a suspected electrical component.  This is very frustrating, but the only thing you can do is look forward to the next race, prepare the best you can, and hope that the problems don’t strike again.  Jarrod’s next race is the Steele Creek GNCC in Morganton, NC on March 31.
