North Adams, MA – We headed to Round 2 of the NEATV-MX Series at the famed Southwick MX338. It’s a special track. You can do all the training and tuning you want but when you get there most of it goes out the window. The weather was nice, and so was the track Sunday morning when the riders headed out for practice.

Once they got into the first motos, the track was already showing signs of wear. In Travis’ first moto of Pro, he would get out 4th, but by the time he had made his way around the 70 of Deroy, Creamer and Pelchat had already opened up a large gap and he would finish 3rd in the moto. In his first moto of Pro-Am he would make it through the 1st turn pile up in the lead only to be taken out in the 3rd corner. He would charge his way back up through the field to finish 6th in moto 1.  Moto 2 of Pro, he would get squeezed off at the top of the hill and round the turn in 7th. By the end of the first lap he would be up to 4th, 7 seconds behind Pelchat and Burbine. In one lap he would erase that gap and then the following lap make his way past Burbine and Pelchat and start putting space between them. He would finish 2nd in the moto and 2nd overall in Pro after dinging his wrist that is still hyper extended. With that in mind and the 6th in moto 1 of Pro-Am we decided it best not to run Pro-Am as there was nothing to gain but much to lose if he were to injure the wrist further. We are hoping that he will be 100% for Round 3, now just under 2 weeks away.

In the Open A Argentinean Max Soto and Maine native Jesse Onesti had a great weekend. In moto 1 Jesse would finish 2nd and Max 6th, and then in moto 2 the Polaris duo would get out 1-2 and end up finishing a strong 2-3. With that Jesse would get 2nd overall for the day and Max 4th. That sprung Jesse into first place in points. In 4-Stroke A Max would get the moto 1 holeshot but would have a come off in the 3rd turn but would rally back to finish 9th, Jesse and Mark would finish 6th and 7th. In moto 2, Max wouldn’t have as good of luck but would charge from 9th to 5th. Jesse and Mark would both have another solid moto with Jesse finishing 8th and Mark 9th. The three of them currently sit 5th, 6th and 7th (Mark, Max & Jesse) in points after two rounds.

In the B classes it was familiar faces up front with Cody Paolella keeping his winning streak going now 8 for 8 as he won both motos of 4-Stroke and Open B this weekend to extend his points lead in both. Brother Kyle Paolella also had a great weekend going 1-3 for a 3rd overall in the 4-Stroke B class to put both brothers on the podium for the 2nd weekend in a row. In C class, we brought in a snowcross racer with zero time a Polaris Outlaw or race atv for that matter besides the 2 laps of practice Sunday morning. But Eddie Bandel of Mohawk NY didn’t let that slow him down as he would grab 3 holeshots out of his 4 motos, going 9-3 for a 6th overall in Open C, and 2-1 for a 1st Overall in his first weekend. Plan on seeing more of him this season as he progresses.

Kellie Moran in the Womens class is seeming more and more comfortable everytime she rides and it showed when she went 2nd overall with a pair of 2nd place finishes keeping the leader Gates in sight both motos. Bruce Gaspardi Jr had a decent weekend in Collegeboy after getting to the corner first in moto 1 he would get tangled up with 4 other bikes but make his way up to 11th and then in moto 2 he would end up 5th giving him a 7th overall for the weekend.
