GBC Motorsports Riders Top Snowshoe Mountain

  • GBC Motorsports XC1 racers Kevin Yoho, Bryan Cook and Johnny Gallagher finished 6-7-8 in Round 8 of the GNCC season.
  • Forrest Whorton, Ryan Smith, Brycen Neal and Jay Shadron each contributed class wins.

Anaheim, Calif. - June 27, 2012 - GNCC racing is considered by many to be the toughest off-road motorsport on earth, and without question the Snowshoe GNCC is the most grueling terrain the riders face each season during the 13-round tour. This year’s course was made even more challenging by the inch of rainfall on Snowshoe Mountain mere hours before the race, but when all was said and done the team of GBC Motorsports backed riders rose to the occasion and conquered the mountain.

Bryan Buckhannon started things off by leading much of the morning race in both the 4x4 Open class and the overall position. A last lap issue would drop Bryan from the leader board; fortunately his 5th place finish combined with his 6 wins keep him firmly atop the points standings.

Forrest Whorton continued his domination of the 4x4 Senior class this season with his 7th win, as well as scoring a season high 9th overall. BNR’s Ryan Smith earned his second consecutive 4x4 Novice class win, and Scott Day put in his best race of 2012 with a 2nd place in the U2 class good for 5th overall. Kylie Ahart is quickly proving to be a threat in the Pro Women’s class after moving up this season, and her 3rd place finish this weekend marked her 2nd podium appearance.

Kevin Yoho matched his season best performance with a 6th place in XC1 and his consistency is helping him to climb the points chart, where he currently sits at 7th place Overall. Bryan Cook made another stop on his part-time campaign this season and put in yet another solid ride, landing in 7th place for the day. Johnny Gallagher followed Cook and Yoho home in 8th place and currently sits a career best 6th in the current Overall points standings.

DeRisi Racing’s Braden Henthorn made the best of a rough day as he came across the line in 4th, leaving him just 1 point behind the XC2 leader in a highly contested class.

Brycen Neal’s impressive season reached a new high as his 19th place overall points ranking allowed him to start the event in the 4th line with the XC1 and XC2 competitors. Neal put his starting spot to good use, running a solid race and grabbing his 5th College A class win, good for 14th overall on the day. Jay Shadron earned his 7th College B class win, and appears well on his way to the class championship.
