There’s a new kid on the block…and the other
kids better watch out. It’s the new Bombardier*
ATV Outlander™ 800 H.O. EFI from Bombardier Recreational
Products [BRP], the most powerful ATV on the market.
It is the ultimate statement about where BRP is
going, with extreme levels of handling, power, performance
and passion.
There’s a lot more to this new model than a hot
new engine – the Outlander 800 H.O. EFI model is
the next evolution in the acclaimed and hot-selling
Outlander line, with new double A-arm front suspension,
sophisticated yet aggressive bodywork, steel racks,
multi-function electronic gauge and more.
“This new addition to the Outlander family is
the perfect example of the new approach at BRP,”
said Pierre Arsenault, Vice President and General
Manager Snowmobiles, Watercraft, ATV and Sport Boats.
“It’s a tough four-wheeler for ATV enthusiasts who
want adrenaline-surging acceleration and razor-sharp
handling in addition to extreme function and utility.”
New V-Twin is Pulse-Pounding
Heart of Outlander 800 H.O. EFI
The heart of that package is the new Rotax 4-TEC™
800 H.O. EFI V-twin. It has a full 800cc, and delivers
its industry-leading power with equal parts displacement
and Rotax “engine-uity.”
To minimize vibration, the cylinders are oriented
at an 80-degree angle. Dual-balanced equal-length
inlets lead to downdraft throttle bodies. Each cylinder
has its own electronically activated fuel injector
for a direct and responsive injection blast, putting
out more satisfying torque and power throughout
the powerband, as well as providing outstanding
fuel economy. The 4-TEC system’s four valves and
roller-follower cam also work to boost torque.
The sophisticated electronic fuel injection and
engine management system ensures optimum performance
in all conditions at all RPM, including easy starting
in cold weather or at altitude.
“All the technology is great, but enthusiasts
will love this engine’s soul and brawny personality,”
said Arsenault. The 800 H.O. EFI is the lightest
V-twin in the ATV industry, which is great news
in the handling and fuel economy departments.
Other Key Outlander 800 H.O. EFI Features:
Trailing Torsional Independent [TTI] Rear
Suspension – The trailing arm design, with
single pivots positioned ahead of the wheels
on a torsion bar, allows the wheels to travel
straight up and down, delivering constant, straightforward
travel and better overall handling. Plus, it
can decrease tire wear by as much as 90% versus
conventional designs.
Surrounding Spar Technology [SST] frame
– The unique steel frame of the SST surrounds
the engine, with less material, fewer welds
and less weight than conventional ladder-type
frames. Its narrow centre spar provides ski-like
slide-and-glide action for getting over obstacles
more easily.
Visco-Lok Auto-Locking Front Differential
– Delivers true all-wheel drive by monitoring
speed at all times and progressively adjusts
torque without having to push any buttons. It
delivers all the needed traction when it’s needed,
without compromising steering and handling.
Continuously Variable Transmission [CVT]
– Quick engagement “get-on-and-go” capability
and instant performance. Engine braking is standard
for improved control on descents.
Double A-arm front suspension – Reduces
bump steer and steering effort. Aluminum upper
arms and mounts reduce weight.
Inboard disc brakes – Front and rear
disc brakes are located at the differential,
inboard along the chassis axis. So they are
protected, plus, there’s less unsprung weight
at the wheel. Bottom line – more effective,
fade-resistant braking when you need it.
New! Steel Racks – New steel racking
system increases capacity by 10% [100 pounds
[46 kg] in the front, and 200 pounds [92 kg]
in back and adds lashing versatility.
New! Multi-function electronic gauge
– Includes both an analog and digital display
– the rider chooses whether the analog gauge
displays RPM or speed. The other metric is shown
in the digital info screen, which also features
fuel gauge, gear selection, odometer, engine
hour meter and resettable trip meters.
New! Digitally-Encoded Security System
[D.E.S.S.] – The industry’s first standard
anti-theft system. The ATV won’t start unless
the rider uses the correctly coded electronic
key.
New! Front fascia – Restyled for a
more sophisticated, yet aggressive look.
New! Clear lens headlamps – Sophisticated
style and 35% brighter.
Subtransmission – Features high, low,
neutral, reverse and park settings.
Transfer Case – Choose either two-
or four-wheel drive to match performance to
conditions.
Aluminum rims with 26-inch [66cm] Badlands
tires
400 Watt magneto – standard to drive
a host of accessories.
Service centre – Accesses key service
components easily through the front storage
compartment.
