KAWASAKI UNVEILS 80cc YOUTH
MODEL ATV FOR AGES 12-15
Important youth model enters ATV
market in Kawasaki Lime Green
Kawasaki
Motors Corp., U.S.A., is yet again expanding its
message of “Let the good times roll™” with the introduction
of a new youth model all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
The KFX80 is targeted toward families with riders
ages 12-15 and older.
“The KFX80 ATV fills an important spot in the expanding
Kawasaki ATV lineup for 2003,” said Vince Iorio,
ATV marketing manager for Kawasaki. “It’s part of
our bigger plan to offer something for every member
of the family who enjoys outdoor recreation.”
The KFX80 is designed for ages 12-15 and older,
and is powered by an 82cc two-stroke engine that
features automatic oil injection, so premixing fuel
is unnecessary. It also features forced-air cooling
to maintain optimum operating temperatures. It is
matched to a continuously variable automatic transmission
and shaft final drive, much like the system utilized
on the adult-sized Kawasaki Prairie® ATVs, so no
shifting is required. To assist beginning riders
with their learning curve, it features a built-in
throttle limiter that can be adjusted as rider skills
increase.
Other powertrain features include electric start
and a maintenance-free battery, dependable CDI ignition,
and snorkel air intake that permits the KFX80 to
draw fresh air from near the steering head assembly.
An added safety feature is the electric start interlock
that requires the parking brake to be applied in
order to start the engine. Plus, the KFX80 features
a U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor.
The
chassis of the KFX80 is made of sturdy steel tubing
and rides on a single A-arm front suspension with
dual shocks and a rear swingarm with a single shock.
Stopping power is provided by durable front and
rear drum brakes.
The KFX80 has a 1.6-gallon fuel tank for extended
riding, and a keyed ignition system helps prevent
unauthorized use.
Available in Kawasaki Lime Green, the KFX80 has
a suggested retail price of $2,299 and comes with
a six-month warranty that can extended up to three
additional years.
