Suzuki Presents Ultimate Race-Ready
ATV –
All-New QuadRacer R450 is Suzuki’s Newest Jewel
Brea,
Calif. (October 3, 2005) – Suzuki introduces a brand-new,
race-ready sport ATV to its award-winning fleet.
The 2006 QuadRacer R450 is built for the track with
proven Suzuki racing technology, eye-catching design
and awesome power.
Suzuki has a rich history of designing championship-winning
products from its hugely successful GSX-R sportbikes
to its famed RM and RM-Z motocross lines. Lessons
learned on the track have led to the creation of
the QuadRacer R450, named after the original QuadRacer
LT250R — introduced 20 years ago as the first high-performance
sport quad on the market.
But the legend stops there, and starts anew with
the help of Doug Gust, multi-time ATV MX Champion
and member of Team Suzuki Yoshimura ATV racing.
Gust spent time with the engineering and design
team responsible for the new QuadRacer, visiting
the headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan, and riding
on the test track there with other test team members.
Gust’s experience as a leading motocross racer was
invaluable to the project, and the results are felt
in the machine’s winning performance.
The QuadRacer’s powerful engine is derived from
the championship-winning RM-Z450 motocross machine.
The 450cc liquid-cooled engine has a compact design
and features an awesome spread of power with maximum
durability and a lightweight, advanced fuel-injection
system.
The QuadRacer’s EFI system is highlighted by
its multi-hole injector and 42mm throttle body.
The system is more responsive and more efficient
than a traditional carburetor, and it’s lighter,
too.
The QuadRacer R450 comes complete with a new
dry sump system that divides the crankcase into
two internal compartments, creating a lower center
of gravity and shorter overall engine height for
improved handling. The 450’s specially designed
engine utilizes three oil pumps for a more compact
and durable system with better shift-feel for the
rider.
The
new sport quad boasts an all-new five-speed transmission,
with gears located inboard to keep it very compact.
The narrow transmission also allows the clutch to
be positioned close to the centerline for optimum
mass centralization and improved handling performance
on the track.
Also unique is the all-new, center-mounted, stainless-steel
exhaust system. Designed for maximum performance,
it features a centrally located muffler to improve
stability and create optimum handling performance
through those rough corners, giving racers the edge.
The chassis was built with the motocross track
in mind and provides superb handling, awesome stability
and maximum durability. The frame features a high-tensile
steel construction with a compact, lower profile
and a lower center of gravity for inspired handling
and performance.
Front suspension is all new with a freshly designed
independent double wishbone system with long wheel
travel and a low center of gravity. The ultra-wide
A-arms feature steel round tube construction on
both upper and lower A-arms with a forged aluminum
knuckle for maximum strength.
The front wheels are 10 x 5.5 inches shod with
Dunlop radial tires designed specifically for the
R450. The special Dunlop tires also are mounted
at the rear on 8 x 8.0 pressed-aluminum alloy wheels.
The combination of both sets of new pressed-aluminum
wheels and special Dunlop tires creates an aggressive
and low-handling package for maximum performance
that the QuadRacer R450 owner demands.
The
QuadRacer R450 doesn’t get by on mechanics alone.
It’s got the looks of a winner with a T-shaped seat,
sharply styled fenders, a newly designed multi-reflector
headlight, aggressively styled radiator shrouds,
stylish fuel tank covers and side panels and a maintenance-free
LED taillight that boasts minimal weight, compact
design and maximum durability.
The all-new QuadRacer R450 has been created to
be the most race-ready high-performance sport ATV
on the market, offering Suzuki customers a machine
designed for the track with little or no modifications
necessary.
