Engine

When Suzuki re-introduced the KingQuad brand name with the 2005 KingQuad 700, it did so with a machine that brought the complete package of features and performance to the upper reaches of the utility-quad class. For 2008 Suzuki takes that award-winning concept and makes it stronger, and faster, and an even better overall utility-quad package. Introducing the 2008 Suzuki KingQuad 750 AXi 4x4.

By increasing cylinder bore to 104mm, Suzuki ups the displacement of the 2008 KingQuad flagship from 695cm3 to 722cm3. The existing strengths of the engine remain. It’s a liquid-cooled, dual-overhead-cam, four-valve four-stroke engine that is canted forward 48 degrees for optimum placement within the chassis. The engine is fed by Suzuki fuel injection, industry-leading technology that has helped Suzuki earn multiple championships in motorcycle roadracing as well as the 2006 ATV championship in the World Powersports Association Pro ATV class. This fuel-injection system improves throttle response and fuel efficiency, while delivering power consistently and improving starting.

Combining the new larger cylinder with the performance of Suzuki fuel injection will deliver even stronger power and torque throughout the power curve. Most improved is the torque delivery from low- to mid-range. Riders will feel the power pull on the top end as high-rpm horsepower is increased as well.

To increase durability and ease maintenance, the 2008 KingQuad 750 uses a new air filter with both paper and foam elements. The paper filter element delivers the finest filtration performance, and the foam outer element can easily be cleaned and re-used. This lengthens the interval between necessary changes of the paper filter, and maintains the top-notch filtration of the entire system.

The KingQuad uses an rpm limiter for maximum control while operating in reverse, and for 2008 the rpm limit has been increased to 7000 rpm. This will give riders more power when operating in low-traction conditions.
To handle the increased engine power and torque, Suzuki engineers beefed up the drivetrain. Several essential components around the driveshaft have been strengthened to increase their rigidity, making them better suited to the more powerful engine. The single-cylinder engine uses two balancer shafts to keep the powerful ride smooth. The engine is secured with rubber mounts.

Chassis and Suspension

The KingQuad brand has always been about a strong chassis that delivers superior comfort and utility performance. For 2008, that is still true with the new KingQuad 750AXi 4x4. The new name explains the KingQuad’s utility strengths. The “A” is for Automatic, as in Suzuki QuadMatic automatic continuously variable transmission. The “X” is for the KingQuad’s independent rear suspension. And the “i” reminds everyone of this ATV’s Suzuki fuel injection system.

With fully independent suspension front and rear, the 2008 KingQuad delivers a superior ride for both utility uses and recreational riding. The independent A-arm suspension in front is preload adjustable five ways for maximum versatility when hauling a load. This suspension allows 180mm (7.1 inches) of wheel travel.
The independent rear suspension uses lower A-arms and upper I-beam construction with support from a stabilizer bar linked in. Individual shock absorbers in the rear are also five-way preload adjustable, and allow 205mm (8.1 inches) of wheel travel.

To best match the newfound power of the larger engine, Suzuki engineers reviewed the suspension settings front and rear. To further increase this ATV’s ride quality, the damper’s spring rates have been updated. This change helps the 2008 KingQuad deliver better drivability and handling stability feel.

Dual hydraulic disc brakes are mounted up front. The rear end uses a super-strong multi-disc braking system that uses three plates sealed in an oil bath. Full-length plastic skid plates guard the chassis and engine.
One of this KingQuad’s best features is its QuadMatic transmission and torque-sensing limited-slip front differential combination. The QuadMatic transmission is fully automatic and is managed by a durable V-belt with centrifugal clutch. An advanced engine braking system helps this auto transmission control vehicle speed, minimizing freewheeling during descents. A left-side-mounted, utility-friendly gate-style drive mode selector lets the rider easily and securely select low, high, neutral or “park” setting. Front and rear cargo racks are covered in a wrinkle-finish paint for increased durability. And a handy storage compartment is mounted on the right side front fender.

The torque-sensing front differential can be set in three different drive modes: two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, or differential-locked four-wheel drive. This Sure-Track differential is superior to a typical multi-plate differential, offering powerful traction when needed, and a light steering effort when that’s desired. A simple handlebar-mounted push button gives the rider easy control over the three drive selections. The fuel tank is mounted below the seat to help keep the machine’s weight low, and a ratcheting gas cap helps prevent over tightening.
