The Rhino 660 is sometimes grouped in the
“utility vehicle” category. But anyone lucky
enough to have spent some time behind the wheel
or in the passenger seat knows that the Rhino
660 is far more than just a workhorse. Yes, the
Rhino 660 does have utility function, and is
quite at home on a farm, ranch or anywhere else
that requires a high quality service vehicle.
But, the Rhino 660 is as fun as it is useful and
it’s true persona comes to life when it’s
putting smiles on its riders faces as it defies
what a utility vehicle should be…extremely fun
and exciting.
In it’s three short years as part of the
Yamaha family, the Rhino 660 has dominated the
landscape as the only side-by-side vehicle
purpose-built to be a recreation machine while
still retaining it’s usefulness to those looking
for a reliable utilitarian vehicle.
At the heart of the Rhino is a rugged and
reliable five-valve 660cc liquid-cooled engine
fed by a responsive 42mm Mikuni carburetor.
Known as much for its low end torque and towing
capability as its awe-inspiring acceleration,
the Rhino proves its sporty heritage and design.
Getting the Rhino up and at ‘em is as easy as
turning the ignition key, while choosing the
best gear for your adventure is done with the
automotive-style gear shifter located on the
center console. Yamaha’s ultra-reliable
Ultramatic® automatic transmission system
transfers the power to the wheels and then to
the trail, all you have to do is get on the gas
pedal.
The Ultramatic system keeps constant tension
on the drive belt to avoid unnecessary wear and
tear as well as eliminate “freewheeling,” which
is sometimes felt on other machines. The result
is industry leading all-wheel engine braking – a
must when heading down steep hills with a full
load such as a pull-behind mower or a cargo bed
full of seed bags or hay.
A standard 2” receiver means you can put that
low-end torque to good use while utilizing the
same hitch off your pick-up truck, and the
redesigned cargo bed is lighter as well as even
more durable and capable of carrying 400 lbs.
The cargo bed features tilt levers on both sides
of the bed for the added convenience of
unloading your blind, game and equipment.
The Rhino is a proven, nimble machine, able
to traverse the same terrain as an ATV. Adding
in the Rhino’s terrainability is the On-Command®
push button 2WD/4WD system with differential
lock, which gives the driver options when it
comes to matching machine to terrain. Fully
adjustable, and fully-independent, the front and
rear dual A-arm suspension offers more than 7.3”
of travel. Combine that with the 12.1” of ground
clearance and there’s practically nothing that
the Rhino 660 can’t tackle.
When it comes to braking duties, at your
service is the automotive-style brake pedal
controlling twin piston, dual hydraulic discs up
front and a shaft-mounted, self-adjusting
hydraulic disc in the rear. If you plan on
staying awhile, the easy-to-operate parking
brake located on the center console is willing
and able to keep you put.
Keeping things as convenient and comfortable
as they are rugged and reliable, the Rhino 660
offers padded bucket seats for both driver and
passenger with newly-designed headrests. The
most notable change for 2007, however, is the
addition of the digital meter, which is now
standard on the Rhino 660. The digital LCD
multi-function display meter features a
speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter, hour
meter, clock, fuel gauge and gear position
display. Of course, with a 7.9 gallon fuel tank,
you and your partner in crime will be more
concerned with enjoying the day-long ride than
worrying about watching number of a meter.
The 2006 Rhino 660 4x4 will be available in
Reeltree Hardwoods® High Definition camouflage,
Red and Hunter Green at Yamaha dealerships
nationwide starting September 2006.
Joining the standard Rhino 660 for 2007 are
four “edition models” built to suit every
possible users need or want. The all-new Rhino
660 Special Edition is the sportiest of the
bunch featuring one-piece cast aluminum wheels,
sport steering wheel, silver seats and special
edition graphics. The 2007 Rhino 600 Special
Edition will be available in Steel Blue starting
in October 2006.
The Rhino 660 Sport Edition is ready to rip

silver seats and headrests, sport steering
wheel, Baja-inspired front carry bar and brushed
silver water-dipped body featuring sporty

Advantage Max-4 High Definition Camouflage and
